Well I've had a very busy summer. I volunteered as the Director for my Churches Summer Youth Program (UrbanPromiseNY) and it was a roaring success. We started out with a summer camp that was free to all the families. It took a lot of fund raising to pull it off. We had great volunteers and was able to hire children from the NYC Summer Youth Program. I am now gearing up and starting fund raising for the After School and Street Leader Program.
I've also been busy making new friends and networking here on the internet. I have a few blogs that I will be posting soon on Debt Negotiation and House Payment Rescue.
I made to new business relationships that are working out very well. On top of that, I was called to do some live speaking engagements which were extremely well received resulting in more engagements.
Great idea. I am only going to speak on the positive, so...
Meeting wonderful people online and in person. In particular, women business entrepreneurs gather at my house once a month. We grew from 8 women in April to 28 this August. And more will come. We meet to learn from our guest speaker (they may garner new business) and to refer business to each other. And we eat! It is a magical event and so empowering.
I hope that more people get to read what great work you are doing for your community. You are the type of person that I love to network with. I say this because you and I seem to share the value of education, community involvement and networking!!
My summer was great! I did a lot of traveling. Since I'm a school teacher, I don't work during the summer. I worked at a camp (Cybercamps) as a camp counselor. It is a computer camp and a very good one! Costs at least $800 for a week and $1100 to stay overnight. I did that for June and July. I worked at a college in Chicago. After that, I went to Orlando, FL, for a sorority convention. I came home to Flint, MI and left again for New Orleans for another convention (Warm Spirit). Also, I went out of town for Labor Day for a family reunion. Now it's back to work for me. We're in our third week of school.
