How to present your business...

That sounds silly doesn't it? Why would I have to learn how to present my business opportunity to others? I just sign up and start posting right?

It would seem on the surface to be that easy, but I see a lot of people have a real hard time...

Over time social networks create a very tight community. Everyone learns the rules and looks out for each other...

That's the first thing... Read the rules. Different social networks approach how you display links differently or even what you can talk about...

The other thing is don't come in gang busters!! Don't try to prove yourself and get to excited about showing everyone your knowledge etc....

Get to know the community first. Hang out for a while. Introduce yourself politely... Usually there is a separate area set aside for intros... And then start browsing.

Get to know the other members... Remember a lot of these people have known each other for a while. They may even be doing business behind the scenes...

Once you have a feel for it, start helping out.

Helping out... If you have any knowledge to contribute, provide it... Help people with things you know about.

Learn... Read... Learn... Read some more... Ask questions...

Then let it rip if you want to.

The bottom line is very few people can go crazy right off the bat... There is an exception here or there, but usually the community wants to see you contribute for a while before you get bold. They need to get to know you.

Definitely don't provide a sales pitch in your first posts... You will getting flaming posts and anger the community. Everyone will see it as spam.

It's just like building any relationship. Take it easy at first until you get to know each other.

Social networks are powerful things. Don't abuse that power. And don't ruin your reputation...

Thanks Matt, good words to heed! Seems like we get more and more spam - like a pie in the face from someone we don't even know. This is a social networking environment. Hence the keyword "social". Need to build rapport and relationships first before someone will know you, like you and trust you. Otherwise, what purpose does it serve to just "blast" your business opportunity to every new member who comes in? I would guess the response rate isn't too high. Thanks again for making it clear.

WOW.... that has helped me a great deal... thank you I have already made a few mistakes but I can correct them I am on the site every day so I can make some new contacts first and then pump up what I do... you have been a great help to me . do you have any other groups or forums that I can be a part of?

Hey Matt,
All very good advice. I have come across those folks that just bust into the discussion or group with plugs for their site or their product. When a discussion contains only links that have been posted, it is not very interesting and it sabotages intelligent discussions. No one wants to dredge through all of the links to find the genuine comments. It's way too time consuming. You get to know the names that just post links or self-promotions and you avoid groups that they are in. Your advice is solid. Thanks for posting it. Angel1

Thanks Matt, I appreciate that but I have been around quite awhile in network marketing and I am not the new kid on the block although I did get a warning funny enough, lol even though I am sassy and know what I am doing, but not being conceited, but I thank you very much.

I love meeting people and so I came here to learn from all of you. So any help will be appreciated. I only ask that everyone have patients with me while I learn from all of you.

I find your advice to be straight forward and logical. I am glad that I read it before I attempted to write anything. I am very new to the computer scene and internet in any type of social scene.
