Leaving MDAnderson to go home

---------------------------------------------------------------

July 9th

After getting diagnosed yesterday at MDAnderson, I decided I was not going to hide the fact. I am really scared for my life and for the life of my baby. At the same time, I can not help but to worry how people will look at me with only one breast. They are also going to have to remove a large portion of my back. The back skin and the back muscle will be used to cover the hole where my left breast and chest muscle will have used to have been.

The good news for everyone reading this is that I should be back from the hospital by Monday and able to work from my computer out of my bed. I am a strong willed woman and I plan to heal quickly. The other partners of the company met last night and decided to donate a portion of all the profits to breast cancer research. I cried when I saw that they had placed the pink ribbon on the logo today.

My twitter account, that was initially used for updating on Sta.rtUp.biz, is also going to be used for updates on my battle, which I will win. Please take a moment to sign up to follow me on Twitter and tell your friends about it. I would like to share my story every step of the way.

MDAdnerson has informed me that I will be the 6th pregnant woman in medical history to have a mastectomy. They also told me that there has been less than 100 documented cases of pregnant women with cancer since they started tracking in 1991. I hope that by getting my story out, that I will be able to connect with some of the other 98 or so women that have gone through what I am going through now. This is the only way that I will find answers because the doctors say they can give no answers with so few statistics.

So please share this post with everyone you know. Hopefully, the power of business networking can lead to me finding answers and spreading awareness at the same time. Little did I know that a few weeks ago while watching how Twitter was changing the way we see Iran, that I would be using it to find answers and support in the fight of my life.

My surgery is at 6am Friday morning. I should be able to give a twitter update in the evening or dictate it to a family member to tweet it for me. I want to thank everyone for taking the time to read this and for forwarding this message on to all of your contacts.

Dear Natalie,

My sister is a 14 year breast cancer survivor. and at the time they told her that she had the very aggressive kind and it would probably reoccur. She had one breast removed, and now wears a implant inside her bra. No one can look at her a tell a thing. AND she has not had any signs of cancer since then. At the age of 59, she just remarried. She was single when she had the cancer.
I was terrified at the time, and I was pregnant. So, I can't say I know how you feel, but I know it can be so scary it feels surreal. I think the best thing I can tell you, is To Let Go, and Let God. He will take care of you and your baby. I will pray for you until you tell me to stop. I just want to wrap my arms around you and let you pour out all of your feelings. You don't Have to be Strong all the time.
If you ever want to talk and be real, without worrying you'll upset your family, just let me know. Send me a separate email and I'll give you my phone number.
With Love, KT Banks

Thank you for posting the success story. I need a few of those since the doctors have been very pessimestic.

You appear to be a strong person. Sometimes we don't know how strong we are until faced with challenges. I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 1997. I received a kidney transplant on 10/20/04. It caused great international controversy. (Google: Bob Hickey transplant) HBO has a documentary in production now on my journey to be telecast in Nov/Dec, 2009. In August. 2008 I was diagnosed with osteogenic carcoma and had my right leg amputated below the knee. I BEAT CANCER! YOU WILL AS WELL!

Hi Natalie,
Love and prayer coming your way.....from lots of people at this network, judging by the responses already here.

Hope. Laughter. Love. Strength. Resolve. These are the things that will get you through. You are fortunate to have all those things.

You are also fortunate that surgery is an option for you. If the only treatment option was chemo, your odds (and the odds for your baby) would be much lower.

All of the 'alternative' things mentioned so far, can also be helpful in your recovery. Check them out as soon as you have the strength and energy to do so.

I'm sure lots of people will be praying tomorrow morning for your situation.

How precious is life? Sometimes you get these email and you just over look them. This was one of them. I received this email just like everyone else but I didn't pay any attention to it until now. Holy SH*t! I said to my self. My friend...Natalie is sick. Now I only know her from reading this blog as a member just like everyone else. But this hit home. Life is truly a blessing to uphold. The enormous heart one must have to learn that they are creating a life and trying to save their own is remarkable. As a "Real Dad", I can just imagine. Natalie, I am praying for you as we all are. We pray that you will have the strength to overcome this episode. There is a God up above. Please lean on us for some comfort and never forget that your readers are your friends. We love you.

Hi Natalie,

Please know that there are thousands of people holding you up in prayer and loving light!
Blessings can be created from this situation and obviously they are not going to give you chemo or radiation due to the baby and that is the BEST thing that can happen for YOUR health!!

Also - PLEASE MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE that you keep your body's "ph" balance above 7.0 and more towards 7.8 as cancer CANNOT survive in that ph range! This can be done with the use of alkaline water and fresh vegetables and fruits in moderation. This has been clinically PROVEN, documented and thousands have eliminated cancer from their bodies including large tumors!

Your life and your baby's life is very precious and most doctors are simply ignorant of alternative treatments.

You owe it to yourself and your baby to make sure that you eliminate all worry, doubt, fear which in themselves are carcinogenic and KNOW that you Divinely Loved, Divinely Guided in ALL of your ways and that there is no God that would allow you to leave us - for God Loves you and Always wants the Very Best for us - it is only ourselves that gets in the way of staying in heavenly places in our hearts, bodies and minds and FEEL (clinically proven to eliminate cancer and tumors) God's Love, Joy and Peace at ALL times!

I swear on my life that these things are true and I have healed my own broken back, melanoma and more by these loving suggestions that I share with you from the depths of my heart. May Love - Peace - Blessings and the positive power of all of God's Light and Love be with you. Another wonderful healing power is not only to FEEL Love and Gratitude but to LAUGH as suggested by Debbie.

With Gratitude,

Sterling Munce
