Could it be that this network is full of charlotans and scam merchants?

How many of you share my loathing of those who choose to send multiple messages to all and sundry about the same thing or scam. Do they think this network is full of mindless morons who will fall for any get rich quick scheme or pyramid marketing scam (which are illegal in many states now) or real estate scheme that promises big money in these extraordinary times.

I for one am fed up with those people and have started blocking them so I no longer have to put up with their nonsense.

Am I a lone voice in the wilderness or are there others out there who share my opinion?

I honestly thought this network would be of real use to those of us seeking real advice and assistance in growing our developing businesses. In fairness there are SOME members who share that belief and have offered some valuable advice and assistance, but they appear to be in the minority and avershadowed by those unscrupulous members who try to extract hard earned dollars with stupid schemes.

Please share your thoughts with me and others. I would really appreciate your opinions. Perhaps I don't belong on this network, but I realy don't want to miss those really legitimate messages from members who genuinely want to assist.

Hello Marcus, No you are not a lone voice in the wilderness! Only last week I had three identical emails in a row, and have had similar in the past. Alot of the time I think its intentional like you say, or else its someone being impatient if their browser or connection isn't working correctly for example and they keep pressing "send" I know it can happen as it has happened to me as well in the past. But on a place like this its easy to go back and delete messages if need be.

My other pet hate, is emails from unknown people who join up with a stupid message saying they love your profile and would love to get romantically involved etc etc. "please email me directly" Do they think people are that stupid?

G'day Adam, thanks for the prompt posting. I completely overlooked the "proposition" messages seeking direct email contact. Yes they are a pet peeve of mine also. At the risk of being flippent, you will recall when the 900 number sex chat 'phone advertising first started. Well the big joke at that time was that you could get hearing AIDS! Now with these contact me direct messages the hearing aids hing no longer is appropriate, but you sure can catch some nasty viruses!

As for the multiple messages, Ning is working on a known bug in its system whereby the sender receives an error message and believes the message did not go through, when in actuality, it did. This prompts people to try to resend the message. I don't have an estimated date on when Ning will resolve this.

As for the romantic emails or anything inappropriate, please contact me directly and I will handle it. We agree that those types of transmissions are inappropriate on this network.

Hi Marcus,

I empathize with you. I will say that there have been a couple times I've sent out emails to the friends on my list and have received an error 500 message. I sent the email several times thinking that it didn't go through. But, it actually did. One guy expressed his contentment. I instantly apologized to everyone on my list and contacted Support. The 500 error message still occurs occasionally. But, at least I know the message was sent.

Those idiots who join soliciting and professing relationships and love, they are fishing for suckers who fall for the true and undying love theory. Once they get people to contact them at their personal email accounts, they continue to profess love and how much they want to be with them. It all eventually leads to stories of their unfortunate and pauper-like live styles and their dying mother, father, baby sister, etc., and then a financial urgency almost always follows. These people believe that there's one idiot born everyday. And they're right. A friend of mine fell for the oke doke. So, they try their luck anywhere on the internet, especially where they can join for free.

Speaking on behalf of website owners, it's very difficult to administrate and filter out these people. It's like receiving junk mail in your snail mail at home. The mail made it through. Now, the only thing to do is to sort out which is junk and toss it. I have reported each and every one I've received to support. In the last couple of weeks, I have not receive anymore emails. But, I'm sure one will make it's way in my inbox again.

Marcus, don't let these types of things dissuade you. Use the tools this site provides to meet your goals. As for the people, decipher the diamonds from the roughs; and remember that the web is nothing but the world sitting behind computers. Everyday, we pass by these same people -- good, bad, confused, sick, selfish, crazy -- in grocery stores, the post office, bill boards, advertisements on TV and even in the workplace. Yet, we continue to focus on our goals and succeed continuously, don't we?

There is one difference between the web and the world... The delete button. That one simple and powerful button helps me stay focused on what's meant for me. Sure would be nice to have a delete button in the real world.

Stay with us, Marcus. I'm sure there's lots you and I, and the serious can learn and share together...
