Now that the new president elect is making himself comfortable in the White House, we would like to know how small business owners feel about the future under his leadership?

Will your business flourish under him or get hurt by new taxes? Will he end up making a positive impact on the nation and the world?

I find it interesting that we allow ourselves to get so frustrated and concerned with this change because my friends, it is what it is. As American entrepreneurs we are the smartest, bravest, most hard working people on the planet--we will find a way regardless of the hurdles put before us. I'm not a fan of what I heard from the Obama camp, but then again I could say the same of McCain...and I can't say that the last administration got their results aligned with their promises either. We should know by now that campaign speak vs real life is never the same and we can not be sure of what will come (good or bad) despite plans or promises from either side.

But why should we expect that a group of people who work at the fine art of spin, inside the confines of a "big machine", without a money-hammer above their head can make sound decisions for those of us whose work outcome is so closely affected by the personal income and effort we spend and the personal risks we are willing to take.

I think we have several things going for us with Obama in office, regardless of party politics as usual and the greedy hand of the tax man waving gimme gimme. With Obama in office we do have the first African American president and party be damned, I think he will be watching out from day one for the legacy he leaves in the history books. Perhaps his decisions will be tempered by this, despite pressures from all angles.

If Obama does manage to redistribute the wealth: I can't remember the exact saying or sentiment, but it goes something like this: if you gave had ten broke people and ten millionaires and you gave those who were broke half the wealth of those who had earned the money, those with the skill to make it themselves would end up with $1m again in short order and those who could not earn it themselves would quickly be broke again. It's wasted and unnecessary effort of those who are hard-working, smart, productive, etc. but all in all true.

Take heart friends. Make a plan. Work smarter. Find opportunity in the changes to come.

Here, here! I agree.

I am a Texan and a moderate and am VERY proud to have put my vote and trust in Obama. Enough of this ignorantly based rumour mill. Bush made a mess and made a lot of money for his friends - ALWAYS follow the money. His buddies all have made money and are continuing to make money off this mess, while the middle class foots the bill. ENOUGH already.

We need some sanity in the White House.

Additionally, you Christian folks need to decide WWJD right now? How would He handle the diversity in this so-called "free" country? BTW, I am a Baptist, but I support abortion rights! I also have a gay niece who I would never want to suffer because of someone's bigotry. Examine yourselve.

I think the tax plan Obama has tried to spell out will help the working class whether middle, lower or upper class. It isn’t fair for the working class to pay less in taxes than the owners of the business do you think Chuck? Then not too many people will ever get a chance to make $250,000 let alone gross $250,000 a year. So once again their will always be those struggling to make ends meet, not having enough money to pay the bills, feed their families, or own a home, I guess that’s just American to continue to suppress the working class families, so they will never be able to get ahead.

The atmophere is charged with such positivity..we all must work hard and do our part to support Obama with hard/smart work, good business practices...faith, good attitude, have a servant attitude and we will all succeed.....even many other countries are celebrating his accent to power....Yaweh knows what he is doing...let us seize the moment and take complete advantage of all we have at our disposal...

Kudos to you, Anne Martin! My sentiments, exactly!

P.S. I share Lisa Hunts' testimony as well, and have the same hopeful outlook!

The story goes, in Pensylvania a very wealthy individual was asked in an almost accusing way of not a very being charitable person. He did help quite a few people and made it a practice as a part of his life to give meaningful contribtutions to people he felt in who his money would be put to good use. The interviewer said WELL! why DON'T YOU! GIVE ALL YOUR MONEY AWAY! He replied I've already thought of that. I figure I could give every person in the state 5.00. They would then be able to get themselves a Big Mac meal and my contribution would be over. However then I would not be able to help anyone, particularly those who where in need the most or the most deserving" It seems to me that this is the right application for those who have material wealth. People in general don't realize there is not enough wealthy people to go around. One in a hundred twenty or so is a millionaire. Divide a million among 120 and they get 8250. Not enough to raise a person out of poverty. I voted Republican for many years, but this last go round has left me deeply saddened. I'm sick of taking sides against my neighbor. Politics. Everytime there is a change in power "THEY ARE the QUILTY ONES!!! and the country changes sides. However you've voted, if we don't get good government this time we are in for a world of hurt. Do you remember the event were Dems and Reps alike were patting themselves on the back for getting Nafta and the world trade agreement passed. I thought then this is bad, bad, bad and it was and is still. "We don't need these low paying jobs, we need higher education so people can have better jobs." Well it hasn't worked and there are sure alot of people in and around the states that wished they had one of those low paying jobs. This thing with Nation building in Iraq. Lets build America instead of giving the wealth of our country away and ensnarling the well being of our childrens future to slave under our nations debt. Fly now pay latter. What kind of legagcy is that. OK friends What are going to do about it? Neal

I think its a little early to tell what will happen but if you have to keep a positive outlook on it and take it in stride to see where it takes you.l

Hi,
I'm an Aussie & if I was an American, I would definitely have changed colors & voted for Obama!
I feel, from our limited coverage here & from what I read on various business forums, that indeed the world felt & slept better the day he won!
There's an old saying "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when it comes it is a tree of life"
I hope all the die-hards & other side voters will co-operate & create their own form of "government" of themselves & set about changing their own world around themselves. We are so lucky to be living in countries which still have a semblance of democracy which allows us to do so!
We have the freedom to help others & create our own path in life.
Government should only be to provide constabulary(a Police Force), Postal & Defense of the Nation from Outside attack.
The rest of the stuff they now do has come about in the last 150 yrs or so, because of our combined laziness & apathy. The only reason evil rises up is that good men do nothing & too many of us have just done that!
I was a freedom fighter some time back & it sure took guts!
I decided I would channel that energy into trying to become an example others would want to be encouraged to follow & that journey has changed a lot of my ideals, ideas, values & take on life for sure!.
Good luck America, I'm rooting for you all.
Your great heart of freedom & opportunity must be balanced with care for the under privileged, who you will have with you always.
Once I understood that, my whole attitude changed & I realized I could not save or even change the whole world. It had to begin with me first & that's taken far too long, but I'm on my way to change one life at a time!
I trust Obama is doing as much as he can with what he's got & who he is too.
Mary
