Now that the new president elect is making himself comfortable in the White House, we would like to know how small business owners feel about the future under his leadership?
Will your business flourish under him or get hurt by new taxes? Will he end up making a positive impact on the nation and the world?

Restoring fairness and returning to fiscal responsibility. Why not just say, re-distribution of wealth? IF you make money and create jobs then you are not being fair if you profit. Tell that to those who will lose their job because the company they work for, can't make a profit so they fired everyone and went somewhere else to make a living and prosper; after all, that was supposed to be the American way.

I have many concerns regarding the future of our country. I am not sure how much Obama may or may not be able to do to improve or worsen things. I do know that the last few years have been favorable to small business owners like us. It would be troubling to see tax changes that could hurt small business. It is evident that the fear that exists in our country, especially concerning the economy, has created a much bigger group of interested people who are looking for a Plan B. We have seen a big increase in the last few months.
The idea of working extremely hard in order to achieve success and make dreams come true should never be dampened by the idea that we will have to share the fruits of our hard work with people who are able but not willing to work and simply relying on handouts from the government or other Americans.

Hello,
My business will flourish under his leadership because his policies will aid with opening more doors for my business (nationally and internationally). I am not as concerned about paying more taxes, as my gross revenue (and profits) will increase proportionately. In addition, the world will have a "more positive" impression about our country.
Secondly, when you look at his overall philosophy, it is to help ALL Americans in some way -- economically, create more jobs, repair our infrastructure, etc. If only we had demanded as much from President Bush!
Frankly, everything isn't just about how much money we make or the taxes we pay -- and, didn't corporate and business greed got us into the economic crisis?
That's my $.03 worth.

Good morning;
First, I truly believe President Obama is sincere and wants to see a better world for all of us. My fear is that in the days to come after he is in the "White House" people are going to become very over anxious and unrealistic as to what ONE man is able to do. It did not take three months for us to get into this mess and it is not going to take three months for us to get out of it! To be honest he will have to do a second term to get all the mess straightened out and then some more. In case you haven't taken a good look, we are in big trouble! The past eight years has not been about the people, or this country, and this is evident as to what we are dealing with at this very moment!
Secondly, President Obama is not God and he is going to need every prayer that we can possible send up toward heaven for him, as he digs into this overwhelming mess in trying to get us back on the right track! We have to pray for his life daily, as he is already receiving thousands of DEATH THREATS! God placed Obama in office along with each and everyone of us who voted for him, and we need to support him daily. That big bailout is out, but the little business people are not going to get a dime of it. I am hearing that 400 of the 700 has already been allocated. Did your community get any of it? I know mine didn't. I am sure Wall Street and all the rest who caused the mess got a chunk of it. People....this is in God's hands and not any man...not even President Obama. I will say it again, he is our incoming president and a servant of God to do God's will, which will benefit all those who understand spiritual things. A carnal mind would never understand what I am saying. Politics and religion should be separated? We need to look at that again, because this country was built on laws and principles of God, and now that we are trying to get away from it, well God had no choice but to back up! I pray that people don't turn on him, because they don't realize just how big this is. What we are facing in this world is not going to be overcome as instant grits. Pray, Pray, Pray and Pray some more!

What really surprises me about what you said is the fact that God placed Obama in office. God did not place Obama in office, the American people did. God allows things to happen but it is not necessarily God's perfect will that Obama is in the white house. I am amazed at the Christians in this country that so blindly looked over the things that Obama has voted on in the past. The people that have worked so tirelessly for years to fight for unborn children's rights have really been sent a blow. If Obama truly makes the changes that he talked about, more and more precious babies will be murdered and the people that opose abortion but work in hospitals will no longer be protected from refusing to perform those abortions. They will lose their jobs. If the Christians in this country would have taken the time to do their research then they would have known that Obama's voting record is not in line with God's Word. The God I serve would never sanction the killing of unborn babies and especially partial birth abortions. Not only that, the God I serve would never sanction same sex marriage. Barack Obama was known as a liberal who was not afraid to build bridges across party lines during his term in the Illinois State Senate. He gained a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood for his support of family planning and abortion rights legislation. He also supported gay rights during his Illinois Senate tenure. He said he would support civil unions between gay and lesbian couples, as well as letting individual states determine if marriage between gay and lesbian couples should be legalized.
Most Christian leaders have agreed that Obama is the most liberal president we have ever had. I do understand quite well about spiritual things and Obama was not put in office to do God's will.
I agree that we should pray for him, because the Bible commands us to pray for all who are in authority. Christians need to get back to reading their Bible and being a doer of the Word and not just a hearer. We are not suppose to "conform to this world". We need to stand up for what is right.

And at one time in history Christians were persecuted for their beliefs! Yet they take it upon themselves, as have you, to persecute others by interpreting the Bible to meet their own beliefs. How do you explain the fact that gays and lesbians exist if God is the Creator of ALL things? And how do you justify your judgement of others when the Bible says to love all and judge none as that is Gods job?
This is the problem with formed religion! Those that claim to be the most devout in their beliefs and the most righteous of Christians are the most guilty of following a false God. What I mean by this is that you believe what you were "taught" to believe in a church. But how do you know you were taught the word of God and not the word of Man as he saw fit to interpret the Bible to meet his own beliefs?
Actually don't bother to answer any of this as it would only show your arrogance and ignorance and I have already seen enough of both on this forum post already.
I have never met a person who practices formed religion who did not quote the Bible to meet their own needs! The Bible is a book of morals written and interpreted by Man. Yet it is quoted as if God wrote it.
Don't misunderstand, I believe in God, just not the one that a formed religion touts and interprets. The God I worship is an all loving God that makes no man responsible for the judgment of another. My God does not hate, denounce, or persecute; nor does He subscribe to one of His creations doing so either.
I apologize if you are offended, but if you are perhaps it is your belief that needs to be questioned. I know that I am in no way perfect and I'm fully aware that I have sinned and will again I am sure, but my God is a forgiving and for this I am greatful

What cracks the hell out of me is that when our soldiers go over to die for our rights we are rah rah. But ask the people who are making a bit more than the middle and lower class to give up an extra few dollars they are scared to sacrifice for the country, to make it a bit better for the next generation. Hmmmm.
Obama doesn't take the white house until Jan 20. Basically he is less scarier than BUSH! That is why we are in the mess we are in now. People being greedy.

Not that it has a lot to do with Obama, but with my business in online travel, people are still going to take vacations, and get out of town, no matter who's in office. The one solace in this is financial mess, is that the gas prices are falling, at least here in New Jersey. It's down to around $1.80/gallon. So, that will help to pick up the travel industry, more so than the presidential situation. Although, the airport and cruise industries are surviving. They may have bent, but they are certainly not broken.

Some imagine that Government efforts to ease credit conditions allied to the electoral success and electric rhetoric of America’s new president-elect, Barack Obama can somehow avert or divert a deep global recession.
Regrettably, the damage has been done. There will be no Lazarus-like recovery of the global economy.
The debt-collapse is only at its initial stage – the real New Dawn. National economies have become well and truly unglued and all governments are acquiring record deficits.
All major governments have embarked on record borrowing binges – even the US Treasury is going to borrow ( an additional) $550 billion during the final quarter of 2008.
Mr Obama can do nothing to change that or to somehow halt the downward progression because it has now gained its own momentum and like a forest fire, it needs to be given time to burn itself out.
Governments are having to borrow in order to finance their deficits and to purchase bad assets from the banking industry. Unfortunately, they also have the routine problems of financing their day-to-day administrative expenses as well as any maturing securities which they have issued in the past.
Governments generate income through the medium of taxation and in a faltering economy, production decreases and unemployment rises. That creates not-only additional government expense (e.g. benefits payments to the unemployed) but those unemployed are no-longer paying taxes to finance the government.
The solution - yet more Government borrowing.
Very soon, the Obama-inspired stock market rally will be viewed as a selling opportunity because the fact remains that the world’s massive speculative bubbles have burst — in commercial and private property, stock markets, commodities and above all, debts.
Even as the government sweeps piles of bad debts under the carpet, mountains of new debts will go bad — a new flood of mortgages that can’t be paid, a new raft of credit cards defaulting, an avalanche of companies going bankrupt.
Any day now, Hedge Fund managers worldwide will begin a fire-sale of stocks. That will have a very profound effect on share prices and cause more companies to go into administration.
Governments will bail out a select group of large companies but countless small and medium-sized companies will drown.
Governments will focus on companies which deal in money - they will inject more money into bankrupt banks, money brokerages, struggling insurers and any company that is deemed essential to the economy.
They will pump resources into credit markets and stock markets and by doing so they will create the occasional stock market rally.
In reality though, they are treading water and buying time.
Unfortunately, time has run out and this is one fire that even a real Messiah would be hard-pushed to extinguish.
