'SEASONS FOR SUCCESS'
In today's society, it's challenging for young children to find a strong plateau of encouragement. Videos, cartoons, and negative programs do not offer much of anything positive. Parents are doing their best to keep it all together, but sometimes we fall short. Gone are the days of 'BIG MOMMA' and 'IT TAKES A VILLAGE' to help raise our children.
Through the inspiration of my children's book 'Pookie Lookie , the Pink Spotted Panda Bear, I have created Seasons for Success, a guide that stimulates the journey of success for children and their parents.
Here are ten tips to get you started:
1. Always start your child's day off with positive words of encouragement.
It will help to get the day going in a good direction.
2. Teach your child the benefits of working together with his peers.
Stand firmly against name calling and bullying!
3. Encourage your child to be the lead in doing the right thing, all the time.
4. Always have good eating habits. Eat more GREEN foods. A healthy diet promotes
a healthy mind.
5. TURN THE TV AND VIDEO GAMES OFF PLEASE! They are just free babysitters!
Be available for your child. Children want to be recognized, loved and appreciated.
6. Begin the Seasons For Success' blue print for your child.
(stay tuned for more details)
Start out by analyzing who your child is and what they absolutely love to do.
7. Create a visual board with your child with as many pictures and positive words that
you can find. The bigger the better!
8. Divide your childs life up into four parts or Seasons:
Spring = beginning of journey
Summer= excitement and possibilities
Winter =making concrete decisions
Fall= harvest time, ready for the world
9. Don't let up! Create good habits for your child. Moitivate them to read a lot, travel
with them to new and exciting places. Teach them about managing their finances.
Put them in a speaking class like Toastmasters or have them tolearn a new language
fluently.
10. Continue to build on the new realationship with your child and LISTEN to them.
Stop, sit down and listen to your child. They really do have something great to say
if you just let them.
