1) Buy the T-shirt or Tote Bag and Wear it Often

Whether you are at the mall or running errands, this shirt will get people to ask you about your business. If you are able to pitch people on your business who are actively coming to you 100 times a month for 100 dollars, then you are going to make some serious money. Not only will you convert 5-10% of everyone that asks, you will also become an expert on your pitch by giving it 100+ times a month to strangers. The T-shirt was specifically designed for our members to leverage the Sta.rtUp.biz name. The logo underneath the slogan will spark interest and confidence. This makes for an easy transition into your sales pitch.

You can see the T-shirts here.

2) Carry a Sign-Up List with You

This does many things. It establishes trust, gives them a reason to listen to your pitch, allows you to build a valuable list of prospects, and identifies their level of interest. When someone asks about the $100, you tell them that you have list with you of each person that has asked. You quickly explain that once you tell them about your business, then they will sign the list with their name, phone number, and email address. If they are the 100th person, then they get $100 on the spot. I would also encourage you to offer a once a month $100 raffle from everyone who signs up. Let them know they will be notified by email if they win. This will encourage them to give you a working email address. Finally, make one extra column on your sheet that asks what their interest level is in your business on a 1-10 scale. This will help you weed out people that have zero interest.

3) Have a Camera with You and a Crisp $100 Bill

Some people may think they can wear the T-shirt, get the contacts, and never have to give away the $100. At the end of the day, you are only hurting yourself by not doing this. You want to give away the $100. This allows you to take pictures of the person holding up the $100 bill and use it as a marketing tool when someone asks you. Also, you can send out a picture to your email list of prospects each time you get another winner along with a link to your business.

Great Idea!

As a t shirt designer and business owner I know it is a great idea and a favorite marketing technique of mine. We started out making our own t shirts in 1996. Our family wore the shirts at a Christian concert where thousands of people attended. When we returned home we had hundreds of inquiries about our unique t shirts. Our business was branded by those 8 t shirts. We also had our chairs with the logo printed on them, and a banner in our tent. We no longer make our own t shirts, we are now in business with one of the largest Christian t shirt companies in the United States. A perfect match!
