Looks like I'm going to have to budget for Gold Membership. I had been posting the link to my website under my signature. I apologize.

The rules sound pretty basic & realistic, yet so many people don't know them or care what they are.

Matt, thanks letting me know about the rules of this network. I agree it needs to be less spam and more genuine "networking."

I'm very happy to see these rules implemented. I realize that most people don't know any better and just start posting links everywhere, but as we all know, that turns most people off.

I'll be budgeting for upgraded membership.

Charmaine...trust me it is very possible (if not probable!) to build a thriving network without posting unapproved ads on the comment walls of the other members. For starters I suggest you read the posts at http://sta.rtup.biz/forum/topics/tips-and-tricks-to-putting-an and http://sta.rtup.biz/forum/topics/social-networking-customer . That should get you going on the right track promoting your business. If you have questions after reading them make sure to post them on the threads! We're here to help you become more successful!!

I just want to clarify something...if my longtime friend on the network asks me for a link, I can't give it to him?

Just send it to them via sup.biz email system Laila. Make sure you have their permission first though. We really are cracking down on all forms of spam on the network. Our goal is to make this a spam free environment where our members can congregate and share ideas and network with one another.

Well that is great to hear! I'm afraid that I had started to use this forum more for a laugh when my group needed examples of spam in the worst form than a place to network...When I have to delete almost ALL the comments on my page because they are obviously not at ALL interested in Social Networking, but really want to advertise to everyone who stops by my page, it is time to spend less time in a forum.

I am glad that there is going to be a stricter approach to links and spammers because I have met a FEW good people on this forum, and when I have time to wade through the self-serving posts, there are some good blogs.

Now, is having a non-linked siggy okay? And I assume that linking to my blog on my Sta.rtUp homepage is still ok?

Also, is there a way (and I mean an easy way LOL) to report violators? I usually just delete spammy comments, and sometimes comment on their page, but it would be better to just be able to click "report" and have you deal with them, so I don't get in trouble for fighting a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent. ;)

Glad you like the changes Laila. If you ever need to report someone just click the "Report Spam and Scams" link at the bottom of every page. If all the members are diligent and report abuse incidences we can virtually eliminate spam on this network almost instantaneously.
