The straight on look is normally to be avoided unless you want to convey a certain intensity. It's hard to make it work for most people unless they are seasoned models. Glasses can be difficult due to reflection of the flash and other foreground interference. I wear glasses and never wear them in photos unless its sunny, I wear shades. The background you can tell is a street or driveway so it steals a little of the show...which is about you. This all depends on what you want to accomplish with your photos. Are they to be used professionally, calling card, etc?

It's a great shot if you are using it as a postcard. I want to be there. Otherwise, if that's not what you are after then you need to bring the photo close in to you. If we're talking headshot material you want to be in a properly lit environment with the focus on you...comfortable, natural, and expressing the image and attitude that you want to convey.

I have a fair amount of experience on the subject of headshots. We all like honesty, right? First I think everyone would agree that you are attractive, no problem. I do feel there are some common mistakes that make your photo not the best choice. When I look at a photo I see whether the shot was done by a true professional or an everyday picture taker, this is like night and day. First, it's never advisable to have the top of your head chopped off, rule 101. Next the photo is sanitary looking. If that is what you want to accomplish...the safe and conservative look than that's ok, you have to be comfortable with the shot, but it's also good to explore the the more daring side of Natalie, but still stay professional. You are kind of between a smile and between no smile, kind of neutral. It leaves the one looking with wondering, what is she thinking, like maybe she doesn't like her photo taken and she can't wait for this to be over. You have soft and pleasant features and so I would suggest you spice things up a little bit; different background, different clothing with some color, different pose that underscores you're comfortable, classy, perhaps a little out of the box. People like that, it draws them in.

I happen to be a textbook example but with an unusual story. I have had some so-so photographers and some that were in a league of their own...one in particular, a true artist. I did a few photo shoots for this guy in ATL. A very long 2-year story made short; a number of my modeling photos were pirated by scammers and used on the Internet in Romance Scams. These photos have become among the most proliferated and widely used on the Internet on hundreds of website and thousands of fake identities. I'm not special by any means [kinda the guy next door] but the photographer was able to assemble the 'feel' and persona that worked [more than expected]. By the way, this has opened up a whole new business for me. I was recently on CBS News, The Early Show, Fox News, and I'm interviewing for a German news outlet this week, and a Canadian show in Jan., plus many more opportunities coming my way, a few per week. All because of 15 silly photos that ended up in the wrong hands!! Go figure!!

Robert you have a great look you really should use it.

Thanks for the compliment Linda, I really appreciate it. Not quite sure what you mean by "use it"...the photos, or career wise? If you mean photos, I use the same photo for my main profile throughout. Reason is my photos have been used without my permission thousands of times so I like to keep the same base photo for continuity on Sta.rtup, Ecademy, Myspace, and Facebook.

If you mean professionally or career, I have started a whole business focusing first on the illegal use of my photos but the main focus is educating and arming people globally with the knowledge and how to fight scammers and Internet predators. I know mine is not really professional with the off the shoulder look but having said that I do think the line of business I am in makes a difference. I am not as boardroom as I would be if I were still working for and advertising firm.

So be nice.

Linda, you actually did a very nice job with your pic and you are attractive. Yeah the "off the shoulder" look is not advisable in corporate world but in your profession it's totally appropriate. It has a way of making you softer, gentler [NLP]. You have a nice pose and appear relaxed. If I try real hard to give something constructive would be to smile. That may tend to draw me in more. It's all about catching that moment in time that lets people see an inner part of you where they can associate or have immediate chemistry.
