I'll start with the most common misconception about Skype. It is not just a phone service. Many people believe that is what Skype is. You can call on Skype in many ways but that is not all that it is. Skype also has chat, which is more like instant messages on steroids.

What sets Skype apart from instant messages is that: 1) it saves the chat in history, and you can search it, 2) it sends your message right to your contacts desktop 3) even if your contact is not online at the time you send it, when they do come online your message is delivered to them.

Another misconception about Skype is cost. You can actually download and use Skype for free. Simply go to http://skype.com

Key reasons you should use skype are many but I'll describe a few...

One main reason is important messages do not get mistakenly filtered out by spam. Which also leads to the fact these messages are saved in chat for each person making it easy to refer back for information you sent or received.

Plus, people have "put on blinders" when it comes to email. So many of us delete most of our email and people simply do not receive the message you have sent. Skype ensures your message is delivered and seen. It pops up right there in plain view and not lost amongst junk emails. Your receiver can always pull up the chat anytime in the future for reference too.

I see Skype becoming like cell phones, people won't be able to get by without it. It's the way of the future, instant communication. Not to mention Groups. With Skype you can create groups for your contacts so you have them listed by interests, programs, business contacts or whatever your heart desires. Then you can send targeted messages to them based on their connection to you.

This is just a sampling of the benefits of using Skype. Please feel free to ask away about skype, how to use it, how to get started and also if you already have skype let others know how you have found it beneficial. Please add me to your skype contacts as well. My skype is peaceatlastfarms
