I LOVE this thread, lol.

I had soooo many favorites. I was born in 71, so I had a few of the toys from the 60's, my all time favorites of the 70's though, were the weebles. I had the ranch house, the tree house, and the play ground. I LOVED that little round bottomed horse that they weebles rode in.

I got a little older, and spend my time playing Atari, Space Invaders was my favorite. It's pretty funny,
My husband's favorites were GI Joes, and Transformers. He saved some of them, and passed them down to our kids. He gave his transformers to them about a year and a half before the movie came out a couple years ago, and now their favorite is transformers. It's pretty neat to watch them share their love of these action figures, lol.

My bike (with training wheels at first)

My log cabin building blocks came in a close second. This was before legos, and I think it actually inspired legos. These had a cutout in the middle where you could fit another piece connecting the two and eventually forming, a log cabin.

The logs that you are talking about I used to play and build with them also and it was a toy that stayed in the home for years also.

I believe there is a strong connection between a toy you receive, like and use and the adult life works. For instance, I had a little piano and have a true one, I had a little farm with all kind of different animals, and long during my life, I reared multiple kind of domestic (and non) animals, I played doctor and cured some people, at least of things which were only needing time and devotion, I was the teacher of a group of cats...and when I can, I teach, English, French and others at a lesser level. So, I say, our gift, our toys, have to be chosen with care, and love. Amicalement. Catherine

Great point. Toys that are given by our parents have a huge influence on our adult life.

I LOVED my Betsy Mcall paper dolls I kept them all in an old shoe box for years.I don't think they even have paper dolls anymore,,just a memory

It was Spirograph for me I used to spend hours making ever more complex and colourful patterns. OMG I had actually forgotten about it until I saw it listed there.

I would have to say when I got the Rock'em Sock'em Robots. I forgot how old I was
when I got it, but I had so much fun with it. My parents had gotten it for me.

Hy friends!
Okay - Barbie and Lego is classic - we played with it and our children also.
But one also real big classic I am missing here:

Nobody knows PLAYMOBIL ????

When I was young (oh god - it sounds like I am grandma) , we had a lot and played it daily. Because I was the only girl in family , of course I also had to play with cowboys and indians, with policemen etc - but we loved it - and piece by piece we filled a whole seperate "Playmobil-room"

Now - I have the same problem with my daughter - she is 7 years old

But now, the figures are much more detailed and nicer
And - phuuuu- I cannot use anything from "old times", because she has the big Town-Villa, the Hospital, the Veterinary Hospital etc... and each Year there is something new (she wants)

And if I am honest:
I still like it - and it´s not a great deal, when she asks me to help her fixing all nice, before some girlsfriends are coming
And don´t ask me, who is fixing the big buildings at Christmas - Papa, uncles... all lying on the floor till late night and helping
