Blog Tip

You can also achieve extended success by posting comments utilizing a really good blog that you created. Try and creating a blog around social networking topics or marketing a website. These will get the most traffic. Use a similiar comment style of template with a link to your blog. If it is a featured blog, then be sure to mention that.

Groups Tip

This is another great way to market through comments. The key here is to create a group that is somehow related to your industry that will appeal to others. Then you can create a comment that asks other members to join your group.

Feel free to ask any questions here on how to tailor your comments. We want you to succeed.

I fully agree with the article, but what about the products - marketing ideas is fine but marketing a good product is fulfilling. It will not generate billions of visitors but it is at least an honest approach and traffic isn't worth a Cent when it isn't leading to a happy customer who benefits from the deal I offer. Maybe not the way to become incredibly rich as apparently everybody else already is, but still my preferred approach to business. Good luck, Otmar

If you have a good product, then write a blog about the industry it is in and include a link to it within the blog.

If you offer Logo Design, then write an article about the 3 keys to designing a great logo. You can show examples of different logos that are on your website, and offer your package at the end when they are all ready to buy.

Fully agree again with you and it wasn't personally, just got caried away when the word traffic came up again - I just don't like it as it is too shallow. Sorry, this isn't the right place to get philosophical though and what you call traffic is what I call visitors, but maybe we mean the same anyhow. Thanks for the answer, it makes me feel good as I'm treated as a visitor ;-)

Hi Matt,

My site is mostly informative but, yes, I do have products to sell related to my subject matter. I have spent so much time running here and there trying to find the marketing "key" which has eluded me I must say!
I have not been very active on this site and yes, I have received many messages from people who clearly have their own agendas and I am one who gives back generic responses.
I am sure that there are people out there who are interested in my field ( sexual abuse survivors) but I am not quite sure how to go about initiating a blog etc about my field of expertise when it isn't quite as easy as chatting about marketing in general.
Do you get the point I am trying to make?
I am hoping that maybe you can give me some general ideas of how to start or share some of your knowledge and expertise on how to reach my target audience? :)

Thank you and blessings,
Becky Herdmann

Great point, Matt. That is the perfect metric for added value.

There are two main reasons for being on this network.

The first is to learn how to make your business a phenomenal success through networking with other small business owners.

The second is to network and do business with eachother.

I think you will benefit the most by focusing on the first one and spending your time making connections with people that can point you in the right direction. Search engine optimization of your site, internet marketing, and email marketing will all help focus in on your target audience.

Post a discussion in the General Business section of the forum and ask how to get in touch with your target audience. Give as much info as possible. How are you marketing your services right now? What type of traffic do you get? What is the pricing on each of your products or services? etc.

Thank you for this valuable information. I am getting so much information it is hard to choose and pick the right ones. I have been told over and over again to sell myself not products. When people get used to you and trust you, then they will start buying from you. I see the point in that. But when I have bought information on line I did not know the person. I wanted to find out more about how to get my blog seen.
I will give some of these suggestions a try.

Brilliant advice for all here. No one wants to feel pushed into viewing anothers site. We are all busy people & our time is too precious to look @ sites we don't feel could be of mutual benefit. I for one could certainly use more traffic to my site, but I know there are ways and means of going about achieving such goals. Force is not one of them. Empathy is!

When all things are equal people will always do business with someone they know over a stranger.

And even when all things are not equal they will do business with the person they like.

"4 Creative Ways to Cut Business Travel Costs," would be a great blog topic that pretty much anyone would find interesting in today's economy. Very clickable.

You could also start a forum discussion, "What is your secret to saving money when travelling?" Those two paired together in a hello or welcome comment would definitely get the buzz going around you and your profile. As people respond to your forum discussion, be sure to comment on their post.

Thank you very much for this wonderful information.I'll do my best to use It.I've noticed that some people dont like It when you refer to your business when you comment on their page.I've really read some people complained about that. This is the reason I've choosen for very regular and simple comments, without my info.I always check on people's business and their blogs when I go to their page to leave or return a comment, so I assume they do the same.Do you think thats wrong?
