What is the Best Way to Get Website Traffic?

I think this is a great question that we can all share and learn from answering and reading everyone's responses.

I am laying out my three secrets for all to see along with details on how each member can implement them. They have helped me build my companies over the past 10 years with a ridiculous amount of traffic from Google.

- Give provoking insights in your topic, make provoking titles/descriptions ("The swindle with...") also.
- Show and discuss the ugly tricks of your branche to help the readers to avoid them. They will spread the links to your helpful info site by themselves, traffic and ranking will follow automatically.
- Don't write good things about you, that should make others.
- Show your competence in a broad range of topics.
- If posting in blogs / forums: Always in this sense - PROVOKING and Filled with hidden knowledge, this will get the clicks and will made paying-in-advance-double-fee-customers.

Permalink Reply by Jonathan Bradley on June 12, 2009 at 1:20pm: Personally, I am finding that videos are one of the best ways to increase SEO rankings and traffic, especially on Google. A lot of people would prefer to watch a video, than read content, especially if they prefer to see who they may want to eventually buy from. My advice is to keep it to 2.5 minutes long or less, (although I seem to struggle to keep them that short), do keyword research (I just use Google Adwords keyword tool - it is free) and use the right tags. Upload them once into Heyspread.com and it will cost you 5 cents for Heyspread to upload that video to each of 14 different video platforms including Youtube in about 5 minutes (total cost per video uploaded $0.56).

If you are camera shy, take a deep breath, do a few takes, keep it brief and interesting, don't drag it out for the sake of it and don't read from a script (It can look insincere). It is time to step out of that comfort zone.

NB - It will initially take a couple of hours to register with all of the different media that Heyspread uploads to, but you only do it once. Use the same username and PW on each one to make your life easier.; ▶ Reply to This

Marketing is a key issue here for everyone. A lot of small businesses can not afford the cost associated with with the marketing aspect of growing their business.

From the consumer aspect, most consumers do there research online before they buy anything. When they do their research and find out you have a website and your business was in the neighborhood they would more than likely want to buy from you in the neighborhood.

Permalink Reply by Nick Simpson on June 17, 2009 at 3:03pm: RSS is nothing new and nothing special, unless it is used correctly. Most people do not know that you can use rss to build your website and feed new content to it, then turn around and use the rss feed to promote your site!

Note, I have never posted on this blog in my life, although you may notice that it has a PR 2 ranking by google and gets plenty of traffic on autopilot!
