1. I would never work on the beach :) or any other pleasure place, for that matter.
2. My office is IN my office space in my home, so I can keep my personal and business life separate. Treat it as a JOB, but know it is my business. I don't take my laptop or work with me anywhere.

I have my office in my pocket, thanks to technology, but I see Charlene's point in wanting to keep business and pleasure separate...but I could not resist taking my laptop to Europe with me. I did not work very much, using it to research destinations more than anything else, but I did not want to be out of touch for 5 weeks.
Although I wouldn't likely work on a breezy beach...sand in keyboard - baaaaad...I do often take my work outside.
My favorite place to work is the barn with my horses. With technology today, our home offices can be anywhere.... It's awesome!! Wireless internet is great!!! And if you are doing online marketing with out having to handle the product it is even better.
I take my work virtually everywhere, planes, beaches, up mountains - some times difficult with connections. I use a variety of desktop, laptop or PDA, sometime the sun is a problem and if you are scared of getting water or sand in a pc, you can buy specialised toughed units that will even survive a fall. I occasionally report on Adventure races and there is nothing better than sitting down in the outdoors and sending in reports from remote areas. Freedom is great.
I like my blackberry for this kind of "guerrilla work" - although the bulkier one we got for when we went to Europe in April/May has a better keyboard for actually writing than my one "home" one that is very slim and has the camera and such, but has .
I suppose I could get another, tougher laptop for when we go to the beach...but I'd rather not LOL there are only a few beach-worthy days here in Nova Scotia, and I'm not taking my work south with me on Christmas break...I refuse...simply refuse...if my people can't do without me for a week over the holidays, they shouldn't be on my team LOL
Laptops are getting smaller and better. I think in the next 5 years there will be a laptop so fast and so small that you will be able to carry it in your handbag. There is one now but it is a little too slow for me.
