I read the comments and understand your concerns for your children, grandchildren, and/or other family members and the need for a safe and healthy Internet.

Here's a stretch for Petra and Dan... healthy kids are a good thing and maybe there's a correlation between healthy kids make better decisions, therefore better choices online and offline - I said it was a stretch. And Dan's approach will possibly empower kids to build better rapport with their peers, therefore less CyberBullying.

As for the rest of the comments like Risa's wanting more stringent regulations - I agree. However, part of the problem is law enforcement can't keep up and then there is the matter of jurisdiction. What we can do according to Winn Schwartau, is address behavioral modification. This is something the CyberHood Watch partners promote, teaching our children to be civil and teach them to become "Responsible CyberCitizens".

"Lady" alludes to keeping our computers "programmed" and that is part of being a responsible cybercitizen; knowing what to do, aware of what is happening on the Internet, and taking action to make sure you are not part of the problem by having an infected computer under the control of some hacker. If yo don't know how, or just don't want to maintain a safe computer, then find a service that will manage your computer for you. A service that provides professional malware (not off-the-shelf big box retailer) protection and tech support to remove any malware that gets on your computer. For some of you, who might not know, "malware" can be a computer virus, a worm, Trojan, keylogger, spyware, etc. placed on your computer without your knowledge or permission.

"Debbie" it can be a lot safer if you take the time to become aware of the problems and get to know the solutions. the fact that you and everyone else took the time to voice your concerns, shows you are aware. It's the complacency that the cybercriminal and organized crime is counting on.

I am not an IT tech kind of individual and I don't need nor want to be. As a CyberHood Watch partner, my focus is know what dangers children and their families are facing as well as our community, and to make sure you and your children are aware of these problems and show you what you can do about it.

I thought five children were plenty, bur "Consuela' with seven - my hats off to you. A note about "strangers", more specifically "stranger danger". Nancy McBride was a guest on our CHWradio show, who coined that phrase. Nancy is the National Safety Director for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Her one wish was that "stranger danger" be stricken from the English language, because most children don't grasp the concept of stranger. She cited the incident in Utah, where a young boy lost in the mountains and actually avoided his rescuers because they were strangers. A child, after meeting an individual, does not feel he/she is a stranger any longer. And the fact that most instances concerning sexual assaults happen with individuals the child already knows and who is not a stranger should be of more concern and how to help the child recognize that danger than a stranger.

Etienne is a fellow blog talk radio host like CHWradio, and the more we can empower children, families and the community the better.

A great start and a #1 site on Google as a resource about "online security" is OnlineSecurityAuthority.com - be sure to check it out and book market or make it a favorite for later.

Well, that is my two bits

Trade your kid's Halloween candy for Healthy Chocolates!

So when your kids come home, have them give you their candy and trade them with Healthy Chocolate Nuggets.

They are vegan and have the equivilant of a pound and a half of spinach in every nugget.

Be happy to send you some! Start a healthy Tradition!

As a mother, grandmother, a "Skipped Generational Parent", and on-line business owner, I strongly believe that we can not be too cautious for our children.
I feel we all need to band together and help to lobby against not only on-line predators, but to have the legal definition of "on-line predator' changed.
Currently, the National Center for Exploited Children only protect children who are being victimized from child pornography; I truly feel that this needs to be extended to any person who, without the express consent of a parent or guardian, posts pictures of any child under the age of 18 as is currently happening.
It is my strong belief that anyone who places pictures of children on public web sites with out consent is opening these children up for potential harm from stalkers, kidnappers, and molestors.

Hello Everyone,
I am a Mom of 7 and my childrens safety is my #1 concern. As a parent we teach our children not to speak to strangers and not to give out information over the internet. We put Mr.Yuk stickers on household cleaners but what most of us don't realize is that we could be unknowingly be putting our childrens health at risk just by keeping these cleaners in our homes. As a Motivated Mom my job is to educate others about how harmful these chemicals are and offer them a safer product that works as well if not better. The products I use are all natural, they work great, they are safer for my family and the environment and not to mention most of them cost less than the name brand products I use to purchase from Walmart.
If your a parent, granparent or just the average person looking to take better care of yourself and the environment then we need to talk. You can request more info by going to www.consuela-with-motivatedmoms, please leave a contact number so that I can call you personally with this wealth of information.
I thank you for taking the time to read this and look forward to speaking with you in the near future.

Hi I just joined. I also created a group which may be of interest to your members; Sales Techniques. Though actually it covers all sorts of topics related to your mind-set, positive thinking, business meta models (NLP Meta Model), and generally other related sort of stuff.

I'm guessing the most beneficial topic will be the customer rapport building skills and the likes though. So check it out for that please.

I am a grandmother of three and raising one. We are considered a high risk of attempted kidnapping. It is now a daily routine of checking the house down at night and placing the weapons strategically to protect our most valuable asset. We are a small security company so security is our life anyway. Glad to see a group such as this one.
