1. Always keep a Daily notebook log of all activities, call backs, to do items, follow ups, and related news and research items.
2. Sign up on twitter right now!- just write a profile about who you are, your passions, and your experience and you will attract like-minded and highly influential people- it happened to me.
3. Write down a list of all your passions.
4. Choose 1 passion & Start a blog NOW talking about your passions, news about your passion, give your feedback, insights, and opinion. Don’t worry about what other people think, if they don’t like your opinion, then they shouldn’t read your blog.
5. Technology is your friend- start getting use to IT! (Information Technology) Research what topic you’re interested in and learn IT! We are doing business and living our lives in a constant connected digital age.
6. Create a linked in account and start networking with other professionals.
7. Set up a Google reader account for all your news and RSS feeds (this is KEY)
8. Find a friend or follower to be your CONSTANT feedback mechanism (just ask me if you can’t find one- I’ll try to fit you in.
9. Delegate what you can’t do to TRUSTED followers. No one knows everything, so ask for help when you need it. But be ready to give help when called upon. (it’s a two way street)
10. Balance Work and Life- you only live once so work hard, do something you love (even if you’re not making millions yet like me) and you still feel good about yourself.

Hi Anthony,

I like your landing page and it seems like a good offer to others out there struggling to survive this economy.

Do you have a company website I can visit or a direct blog to read?

Just trying to learn more about what you do.

Thanks, Keith

Try wordpress.com the free version is limited so you may have to buy the advanced version but, some computer science skills are necessary for what you are trying to accomplish. My company helps to take blogs and many other SEO friendly items within the internet to a massive scale for you including RSS feeds, social bookmarks and inbound links. Please look into these for a successful presence.
I agree that some sites on the web are a scam but, wordpress is a good site that we use and I would recommend.

Regards, Keith

Wordpress.com is only as good as your content. The problem with Wordpress.com, Blogger, Typepad etc is that your blog is being hosted along site millions of others. Your best is to have your own blog hosted on your own domain. WordPress is by FAR the best choice.

But then what? What do you write about?

For an intro to WordPress check out this Wordpress intro on YouTube.

WordPress is an amazing, easy to use platform that has extraordinary capabilities, that helps you deliver your message and get results.

Lennie,

You raise a good point it always comes down to content. The more content you place in a blog the more it's picked up by Google and as a Google solution partner my contacts have said the more you update your site the better. This is why I suggest to my clients to place a blog tab on their company websites so show updates and help SEO.

The topic of writing is your expertise and current updates in your industry with your professional opinion behind them. You must be transparent because everyone will know you are a fake if you claim you are an expert at something and this is fine. You need to prove it.

Just think of a world of unlimited content writing with technology attached that allows posting of one blog the same time as tens of thousands of other blogs that are all connected update with a click. This is where you can take a online social networking program.

Frank,

Thanks for the comment and I would love to help you. Following on Twitter is such a small piece of the puzzle you need to interact and start by paying it forward. This means giving advise using your expertise so business owners will know the value of your professionalism.

You need to know you are entering a virtual world as a new comer and, you want to known as a expert in your industry. So create buzz and put on your psychology hat and write headlines that will create a response from them. Not just, "Went to lunch and now I'm back to work". These comments are not interesting.

Start with these and when people start following you because they like your posts you are finally on to something. Just remember reply to every comment you get and thank every friend that becomes a follower to you. Go to their website and learn what they do and how you can first offer free advise to help their company.

Soon business relationships will happen but, you need to connect with others and interact to build trust and establish a relationship with them.

Hope this helps and good luck tweeting!

Hello,
My name is Gail and I signed up with Twitter about a month ago. Still trying to get the hang of 140 characters as I am used to speaking in total sentences. Would like someone to tell me how do I reply to one person. I know I can use direct message, but some people on my list do not have that as an option.

Also I see the @RT...... What is that? Something tells me this is obvious but, I haven't figured it out so somebody please guide me.
Thanks.

Keith - Thanks for providing your tips and advice. Unlike many people, my business, On the Mark Writing, offers more of a SERVICE than a product. I'm a grammarian and can't tell you how many times I find myself correcting people's grammar or punctuation when written on marketing collateral!

My passion is grammar, rules of punctuation, and various other things, however, I'm not sure if that will truly engage followers of my blog or on twitter, or if it will just make me look like a pompous, self-righteous ass.

Any other ideas?

Thanks again for inspiring me to be more active on the web,

Mark
