But if you have a brick and mortar business, local business means foot traffic gotten from the net. Like if Coca Cola advertises, we are all so very aware of that Brand name that it is alright to have local and long distance advertising, but for the little grocer down the street, he has to advertise his specials on Coca Cola to get foot traffic.

I think it is very important to have local consumers know about your business. Community patronage of your business is what help keeps it going. Also you develop a reputation in the community as a source for what they need (your product or service). I also believe this helps build a stronger community.

It is of the utmost importance to me. Although I have some services (phone wellness consultation, products) that I can provide to distance clients, most of my revenue is generated from my local area.

Hi Kenya and Katrina May,
So how do you get the word out there locally, (print, tv, and/or radio)?
Are you open too unique and effective solutions of how to advertise to your local market?
Have you heard of geo targeting?

Very important. Local is where all business success starts.

I don't just say that in terms of where you live, or are based, in business terms. I also say that in terms of community, and/or also your ethnic market.

As a black business, I am starting my advertising, my marketing, in the black community, and in and around where I live, and then telling other people when I am outside that community.

Also, advertising on the web enables me to speak to both markets at the same time.

So, the answer to your question is, an absolute yes.
