I haven't tried this, but I heard some people in my organization put their cards in their bills.

Where do you put them and has anyone ever contacted you after using this method?

When I send out an order I always include a little clear plastic bag with at least 6 cards in it so people hopefully will hand them out and so they also won't forget the name of my website or my phone number.

I put mine in halfway of the credit card insert slot on the gas pumps when I get gas and they let me leave them on the counter inside.

When I eat out, I leave the card with the tip. Since I have a referral fee program I tell the person to fill in their name and give the card to someone else. Since my business involves credit, I am NOT asking them if they need the service (which they might), but to pass on to someone else that might. I also do this at the drug store, market, etc. I don't do it always at these locations since it depends on the personality of the person and how busy they are at the time, but it doesn't hurt. I have not had any feedback as of yet, but you never know. My main goal is to get name recognition. I have had people come back after I have given them a card months later.

This is a family story - tho I have not done it personally, it does demonstrate the far reach that is possible.

Following WWII my Grandfather donated clothing and shoes. He was an ultimate entrepreneur, owning a candy and tobacco store, and employing all of his siblings - with only an 8th grade education - and 4 children in Private Colleges.

Grandfather got a letter from a man in Greece who was the proud and grateful recipient of his shoes. My Grandfather had to find someone to translate the letter, written in Greek - and thanks to my Grandfather, and the dictionary that he later supplied, the gentleman in Greece learned and had an amazing command of the English language. All donations from then on, were shipped to the appreciative family in Greece.

My Grandfather died in 1960 - but my family remained in contact until just a couple of years ago when the old man died.

I have always marveled at the powerful connection of networking, and the friendships that developed thru gratitude... and a simple business card left in a shoe.

I have my friends also put my business card in their bills. Not sure if this is bringing traffic but I'm sure 1 out of 10 people receiving them probably will visit the site. Some local restaurants let people leave their cards also. Whenever we go out to eat we leave some with the check too.

I was at the doctors office last week which is in a large building with several offices. So when I went into the bathroom and saw how big the counter top was, I layed some cards along side the pretty flower arrangement there and a few days later got a call a few days later. So no matter where you go, leave your card or in my case, when you go, leave a card.

In most stores grocery, walmart, cvs etc.. they normally have a board where you can get local information about businesses or happeninings. I always post a couple of business cards there. I have them in my local gym, and laundry mat in my apt complex and near our mail box where there is another board for the complex. I have them in several complexes in my area.

I've tried all the options. Left them in bathrooms on store walls, in my mail. I really like giving them to freinds and have them hand to anyone they think might find it usefull. The more people you can have handing them out the better:)

Yip I put them with my dinner bill or in the receipt holder along with a pouch of my energy drink as a sample or stapled to the drink and hand directly to the waitress for a job well done. So if you hand out samples, that is a good way of getting attention:)

Hi,

I actually use a different type of business card, a fridge magnet business card. I often just do the rounds of local businesses and just leave my card, no selling, just hi hello my name is Darren and what I do. This is for my computer business. When they have a computer issue my card is usually within sight stuck on a filing cabinet or a computer.

Regards,

Darren

All of these are great ideas. Just remember, according to the laws of averages, if a person sees or hears something 3 times, they will remember it. So, usually, when I hand out or leave business cards, I do it in sets of 3.
Another place that I leave my cards, that has not been mentioned...in those little boxes where you fill out a slip of paper to enter contests, in various businesses. I just drop 3 cards in the slot, whether I fill out the slip or not. You never know who might be emptying those boxes that might need or want something that I have to offer.
