I haven't tried this, but I heard some people in my organization put their cards in their bills.

Where do you put them and has anyone ever contacted you after using this method?

I have a different view on distributing business cards. I am a Real Estate Professional and to me it is more important to get the contact information of a person I get in touch with rather than handing, sending, etc. mine. I believe a database is a key to a successful business and by adding one person to my database, I ultimately add their sphere of influence. I do get referrals and get contacted by a friend of a friend of a friend whom I've been contacting on a regular basis.

Hi Diane!

Great question!

I have my business cards and pens in every pocket of every coat I wear, in my purse and all three of our trucks! I use them both, in what I think are creative ways.

In the past couple of weeks, I've given a card to a someone looking for something to write a phone number on, a pen to the lady ahead of me in the grocery line to write her check out with, I've got few cards next to the register at the newest local diner (and at other eating places we frequent), cards are posted at the local tack & feed stores, drive thru's, anyplace that has bulletin boards, etc.

Since I pay all my bills online, that option is a no-go for me, but a good idea I think!

I carry two pens with me everywhere I go, I actually give out more pens than cards; I 'accidentally' leave them on store counters, check writing stations, bathroom counters, doctors & dentist office counter when we check in, by the register of any place we eat, anywhere a pen could 'accidentally' be left is where you'll find one of my pens or cards.

Haven't tried this method but it seems simple enough.

I put cards in all my bills and with bills at restaraunts, when I mail out orders or with returns to stores, leave them on cars at running events, leave them at gyms, spas, cleaners - always have cards with me. Also went to bookstore and placed cards in books on shelves dealing with heart health (heard that idea from someone else)...

When I send out Christmas cards to clients, I include a smaller envelope with a handful of business cards.

Since my business is largely paperless, I can't really throw them in with the invoice. And since my customers are business owners, it doesn't make sense to flood the general market with them. I give them to clients who ask for them, and they do a great job of distributing them for me.
