Africa is officially open for Business
I am Marc Habets, the Managing Director of OAVM Organisation & Consultancy. After building the on-line business community KLM Club Africa and leading several trade missions into South Africa I noticed a small company like mine could make a difference. So I initiated the first exhibition about doing business with Africa in the Netherlands and I am seeking business men and women who arte interested in doing business with Africa and perhaps visit me in November.
The century of donations and other financial development aid seems to be over. Many African countries have a steady economic growth and captured the attention of the business world. Africa is proving to be a vibrant emerging market with a climate that fosters growth. Africa is thinking out of the box and is committed to be self-sufficient without the image of a third world continent. Africa is officially open for business and ready for take off.
My company OAVM Organisation & Consultancy will organize on 7 & 8 November 2008, a two-day exhibition in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Organisations and companies from the Netherlands, the rest from Europe, Africa and the rest of the world will be present.
This is the place to present your company, its product and service to the African and European community. We welcome the Exhibitor participation from all over the world, as it will enable you to bring to a open platform for foreign investor and to network with companies from Africa, the Netherlands and the rest of Europe.
Growth but not enough
The past decade has witnessed growing diversity in income levels and growth across Africa. Sixteen countries grew by more than 4.5 percent a year over this period, and several of them (including Ghana, Mozambique, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda) also diversified their economies and exports. The fastest-growing group of non-oil-producing African countries, which together represent 36 percent of the population in Africa, grew at an average rate of 5.5 percent. In contrast, the 13 slowest-growing countries, which represent 20 percent of the region’s population, saw average growth of only 1.3 percent. Growth for the region as a whole reached an estimated 5.3 percent in 2006.
Solid growth has helped to improve human development outcomes, especially in primary education. Gross primary school enrollment rates in the region rose from 72 percent in 1991 to 96 percent in 2004. Health outcomes are more varied, but they, too, are improving in many countries, and progress in preventing and treating malaria and HIV/AIDS has accelerated.
Despite these positive signs, Africa is not growing rapidly enough to substantially reduce income poverty. The World Bank is well positioned to mobilize private and public development finance to increase annual growth to 7 percent, the minimum necessary to have a significant impact on poverty reduction. Let's meet Africa and do business will give a considerable impulse in fighting poverty in Africa by organising a structural platform where business people from Europa and Africa could meet and actually do business or talk about opportunities and collaboration.
Unique concept
For the first time you will discover different concepts on the venue. The exhibition Let's meet Africa and Do Business with Africa which takes place on 7 and 8 November and Let's meet Africa with the African heritage and cultural event which takes place on 8 and 9 November. On Saturday November 9 you would be able to visit all three events on one day! The exhibition is not only a good business opportunity but also an unique opportunity for professionals with different backgrounds to exchange ideas and experiences. It will be an international social, cultural and economical event that has a new concept, in which we feature Eindhoven as World Trade Center with a key role for African relations.
