Profiling the who, what, where, how, and why with Mari might be a challenge because she is quite adept at answering all these questions on her page. This Modern Business Exploration group is set up to walk down basic info about people and invite them to add to/ clarify. More than this though, if you look into the main page guidelines of what I am personally looking to find, you will see I've also set these discussions up to go in depth, find aspects where we are aligned, and to facilitate discussion on potential mutual cooperation. Mari's already one of the favorite people I've run into around Sta.rtUp.Biz and I can tell we are unusually aligned enough to pick up on the intended advanced levels of this discussion group. So let's get started!

Who: As I alluded to, I wholeheartedly recommend getting to know who Mari is by looking into her page and checking out her videos. Here, I think we can talk about "who" in principle. Something I've been doing for quite a while outside of Sta.rtUp. Biz is really journaling who I am and what I'm doing through blogs and videos. I recognize the importance of relating to people informally- on their level- and moving beyond the formal conventions and anonymity of traditional business models. It's a key aspect of what it's going to take to be a success in the modern environment. Mari is someone who is epitomizing this principle of self-disclosure and openess. She does this intentionally, promotes the principle, and this fits right in to what she is doing, offering, and how. She's an ace and I think we're just now seeing her come into her own with it. There's no coincidence to this though. Mari has been in the public media as a vocal performer, radio personaility, and behind the scenes in the administrative/ marketing levels for major industry productions. She knows exactly what she is doing from her experience, but I also think she's taking steps forward on the cutting-edge in the way she's going about it.

What: Mari presents herself as the Network Marketing "Rebel". I love it and I think that coins her willingness to go against the grain, bypass conventions, and follow her instincts for what it's going to take to be a genuine success. Look into her website link and you will find the Elite Team network; a community built to support people with a shared vision for success and a heavy emphasis on relationship marketing. She comments significantly on the importance of being in touch with your inspirations and connecting to others on that level by being true to yourself and them. Beyond this, she highlest several special guest coaches who volunteer their time to spice in the necessary professional regimen of knowledge from business finance to marketing. Mari leads by example and if you are privelaged enough to get to interact with her, I am certain you will be impressed with her professionalism and application of intelligently refined skills. Consequently, I believe I share this philosophy and approach. Though my emphasis is not as much network marketing. So perhaps, in addition to being aligned, we are also probably a good fit. Mari also promotes video media as an impact tool. It's perfectly appropriate for connecting people, personality, and energy. Something i think sets what she is doing apart is the high quality application she is using and sharing for FREE. She also offers some consultation on how to use it in conjunction with your network marketing strategy. I'm all about setting the example and demonstrating what i can do too. The value of what I offer is unusually generous, but I stand by the idea results should speak for themselves. If I can invest in the success of others, they should experience something substantial and be excited to do business with me to accomplish even more of what I have shown them is possible.

Where: Hey, we're all over the place now with the internet. Mari's an online personality for sure. She's based out of Los Angeles, but I think her reach has no bounds. In the hands of someone who knows what they are doing, the internet can help someone transcend boundaries and geographic limitations to really spark up a business. She's in a great location given her background and connections in entertainment. I put some work into promoting my area up in NorCal and am developing my business so I can operate distinctly online, in person, or some combination thereof.

When: This is one of the interesting questions to try and ask. It's sort of open to whatever approach you want to look at it from. Mari's been doing relevant work for most of her life. She seems to be just now really coming into her own and taking off with her own ventures. She's going to be rolling out her new radio show next month. One of the main features of the show is to highlight the stories of other people. As in any story, it's great to see people triumph over adversity and enter the dawn of a future where success is theirs for the taking. I think that's precisely the "when" for Mari- it's happening for her now. She made a comment to me on my page where I mention I see myself working on my projects for another few years before I really take off. She said my now was looking good too. I think I can honestly say, knowing someone like Mari is out there doing these things that are so aligned with my projects, that my future has probably been rescheduled to manifest a lot sooner!

How: I think it's clear Mari is network marketing. Perhaps, for others who may not understand though- this is not MLM or pyramid scheming. This is really getting to know people, make connections, and do things for a mutual benefit. I was reading one of her blogs where she really emphasises the point to make sure you do networking right. Her example was, "How many times do you encounter someone in a networking community pitching o you without even affording you the courtesy of a greeting?" In her Elite Team community, you can already see other members jumping on the idea and mentioning people they have encountered/ sharing some points they learned about those people through genuine networking. Mari's community is in many ways a mirror of my own community. There is great sense of intelligent networking, interaction, and contribution. One of my hopes is to see our communities connected. It's a shared vision and at the same time good to have some autonomy for the variances of what we are doing. Excellent! When I think of Mari, some of the first things that come to mind are pictures, video segments, her voice in talking or singing. There's no mistake she's a pro and if you look at some of our verbal correspondence you can see her professional relationship building aptitude flowing expertly. Finally, I couldn't help but get kind of excited about the whole Elite Team concept. I have my own I've been talking about seriously for the better part of this year- I want to build a Mission Impossible team...of elite professionals. Where her team and community seem to be focussed on the online social networking and small business community, my team is intended to be built to solve problems in impressive fashion at the corporate level. My work, as a modern business consultant, may be to impress upon businesses the new ideas and approaches they need to incorporate in order to meet the challenges of the day. One dynamic, for instance, is having personal relationships with customers. Refer to my video at the top of this Modern Business Exploration group for a little more about that. I'm starting to get the impression Mari may be a good team member to have...should she choose to accept it! My work has a lot more development before I'm ready to really put action into that aspect. Seeing Mari's community changes the dynamics of my own outlook as I can see she's gone ahead and paved a lot of the groundwork for me already. I look forward to joining her community and having her in my own.

Why: Last but not least is the "why". I get the impression Mari is a persona of great faith and personal perseverance. I am so impressed by her success raising an autistic son to become a very fun and outgoing person. With a lifelong success story like that, you can only imagine what she's gone through and what's carried her through it. She's showing no signs of slowing down either. I think her life has feuled her drive and she's going for it all- in many ways, I think we are remaining true to our highest ambitions with an understanding that great things go to good people who serve others in their own journeys. She signs off one of her discussions using another saying i've been long known for by my own friends- "follow your bliss".

I'm blown away by Mari Torres and I know you will be well rewarded to look into her. Actually, strangely enough, as soon as I started interacting with her I started running into some other members who are extremley positive and motivating. The next interviews just might carry on the success of this group to new heights. I doubt there is a coincidence to this. It'll be neat to introduce everyone to eachother. I think this exploration is going to highlight the anticipation we have for the future and the excitement we have with what we are doing now.

I've set up this discussion so we could spend a few minutes here and there covering the main components when we have time. Feel free to add into our discussion if you've got something to share about what we'll be discussing. Refer to the main page guidelines for some useful suggestions about using this group and doing these discussions for your own explorations. Now to invite Mari to join the discussion!

Who: Clapping my hands frantically with excitement, at what we are participating in right now. I am overwhelmed with The way that Your have written about me Anthony. I am extremely flattered because of who I know you are. I feel like we must have been soldier buddies in a past life or something because we truly are aligned and here is why.

After working a 12 hour day yesterday I thought to myself "Is anyone getting what it is that I am trying to do am I really going to affect change. No sooner do I say that when I get your email sending me to this link. I am aware that we discussed this process but I really did not think you would get on it so fast. To see that you understand completely what it is that I am doing was confirmation for me that I am doing what I am supposed to be doing.

You put in a whole lot of work checking me out I must say, but let me tell you some things that you might not have known. Although you see me around putting lots of things to action, I wasn't always so quick to promote my own projects like this. I just went through one of the hardest times of my life, which has brought me to the place where I am now. I shared this story with a lot of my friends , I want to share it with you so that you know exactly who I am and why I am here.

this year has been one of the hardest ones of my life, I don't want to come off as super dramatic, but I was literally brought to my knees in a way that I never thought possible, My bank account was down to a negative, I had a 5 gallon water bottle that I had been saving for over 5 years for Lucas and Mikayla (my kids), I didn't know how much money was in there I just know that bad boy was heavy when I tried to lift it the day I had to cash it in.

This past January I started communicating with an associate that I met online a year prior. He was about to launch a phenomenal business marketing site. He got in touch with me just in the nick of time because by the end of 2007, I was contemplating closing the doors of my business. My bank account was on a descending spiral and I wasn't getting any business calls. I have a family to take care of and the idea of a 9-5 as much as it made my stomach turn, was starting to sound very necessary to me. This website he was building was specifically for people in small businesses. It was going to teach them SEO and help them get site exposure, all for less than $4 a year, and as if that weren't enough the site had a killer referral program that would pay people residually for a life time! Man I still get excited when I think about the impact that the site could have made. Needless to say I was very excited to be offered the opportunity to do the marketing for the site. I remember the emotion I felt knowing that the recent struggles did not shake my faith. I was proud that I didn't give up on me, cause one thing I know for sure is that when we don't give up on ourselves the Universe reminds us that we didn't give up through continuous blessings.

I was on cloud 9 elated at the opportunity I had in front of me. I had several discussions with my associate and his partner, I sent an agreement They agreed and it was ON! Visions In Motion, was back in business. I began to work immediately. I spent hours upon hours everyday and night working on this project as if I were the owner. I focused on our vision of success every single day, I wanted to show my gratitude to my associate for this opportunity by working as hard as I possibly could. My associate and I developed quite a friendship in the coming months through the sheer energy and passion that we were working from we were always excited staying up to the wee hours of the morning, him in Vegas and me in Los Angeles. The site was set to launch in March but do to unforeseen circumstances there was a delay and we had to push. At this point my bank account was down to zero, see I had agreed to work free for two months and use my savings, my associate assured me that if I could just hang on a little longer everything would be fine, we were both more than sure that everything was gonna go without a hitch so I agreed to wait, but things were starting to get tense, the launch date kept getting pushed and I was still not getting paid, we were all on edge.

2 more months had past and my situation was not getting any better, my internet was disconnected, the long distance on my phone was gone, I had no way to pay it, my family was doing as much as they could, they are always so supportive, but things just kept deteriorating. My associate did what he could do he paid my cable so that I could get back online and paid part of my cell phone bill, although that helped it didn't keep the storm from coming. A week later my car got towed and I simply didn't have the money to get it back. My faith still wasn't broken, I let my associate know that I needed to get a job until the site launched cause I was truly at the end of My rope, this time he assured me that the site would be up very shortly and that we could count on funds coming in immediately, he said he was going to pay me more than we agreed on because I stayed dedicated to the site regardless of the pit we were in.

After being 5 months into this depleting situation, Bank account negative, rent due again, all sources tapped out, I was getting restless, I guess I wasn't the only one because as we are getting closer to the launch my associate was communicating with me less and less. I stopped asking when the site would launch and he stopped sending me updates. I would write him emails requesting a meeting so that we could talk about the direction of the site and he would say that he would get to it but he never did.

I knew that my relationship with my associate had changed, he was being distant, dismissive and quick tempered and I felt every bit of it. I couldn't believe that he had the nerve to be so cold to me after every thing that I have been through with him and this venture. I really didn't know what was gonna happen. A few days later I finally asked him when he thought the site would really launch, he tells me that the site launched the previous week, I was in a little shock, my temperature rose about a million degrees, I had not been notified of anything . I felt disrespected and minimized but I sucked it up and continued to do the job I was hired for. Things got progressively worse there were glitches with the site and every time I gave him feedback he would act as if I was criticizing him personally. It really got out of hand one time when I was brought in a couple of top notch network marketers who would bring in tons of business, they told me that the site needed improvement in certain areas so that it could be easier for the user. When I relayed this message back to my associate , He blew his top! " I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS SITE DAY AND NIGHT AND IF THEY CAN'T GET IT MAYBE THEY JUST NEED TO READ CAUSE IT AIN'T THAT HARD" I calmly told him this is quality control we need this type of feedback in order to get things working right, then he says "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS SITE IF THEY WAN'T THEIR MONEY BACK I WILL GIVE IT TO THEM, THE SITE IS KICKIN ASS RIGHT NOW", I was blown away at how he was handling this and even more so at the fact that he said the site was "Kicking ass" so I told him, if the site is kicking so much ass when could I see some money? His answer to me (get ready for this one) he said, "INVOICE ME". Whew it took everything that I had to stay calm... but I did.

The first week of August 2008 I sent my Associate an invoice for $25,000 minus the $900 that he paid me when he paid my bills. He sends back a nice reply telling me that he is going to send me a payment schedule and that he is still working on getting me some money, Oh and that my services were no longer needed. I wasn't shocked quite relieved but angry none the less. A week later I told him I had not received the payment schedule and that I would like for us to settle this promptly other wise I would take legal action. Oh my Goodness that must have made him jump and stomp in anger like Rumple Stiltskin because he sent me back the nastiest letter,(I will spare you the details) basically he said that I was just sitting around running the clock and that I had no patience , that I knew it was a start up company. I never replied, because I knew that he was reaching. I decided to let my attorney who I hired on a contingency basis handle that so that I could move forward.

Through out this whole ordeal what I have learned is that, I took that position thinking that it was going to catapult me to a higher level, so I ran and ran with his dream on my shoulders, I did things for his company that I hadn't even done for my own company! Marketing plans, infomercials, press releases, articles, research, graphics you name it I did it, I turned into an employee all over again. I discovered that underneath it all I was still afraid to truly be on my own, to truly depend on ME. I had more confidence in what I could do for others than what I could do for me. I was afraid that if I stepped out on my own that I would fail and that would mean that all of my visions were artificial, that my purpose wasn't what I thought it was after all, I didn't want that to be my reality. I also learned that I am responsible for everything that happens in my life I can not wait for anyone to GIVE me an opportunity I have to make my own. I can't expect for people to do what I think they should because they never will. I have to keep moving toward that vision that I created for myself and understand that everything that happens, is in preparation for what's to come I am accountable for all things in my life good and bad and I am ready for what is coming.

My story may seem distressing to some but believe me, this is the best thing that has ever happened to me because I am fully aware, I am getting to where I am going but while I am here right now, I am taking advantage of every single moment. I see my future as clear as day I know that I will get there so I am enjoying the ride.

Anthony you are Truly a magnificent being! Thank You!

Oh I'm not done... just for right now, got lots more to tell! lol

Thank you very much for joining the discussion. Yes, applaud yourself! I just watched a video on the recent Web 2.0 conference where a keynote speaker, who is now a great social networking success, practically did a call to arms to keep doing what you love. The point is what you you are doing in social networking is building a business and what you are doing is going to be watched/ read by your grandchildren. These are facts relavent to what I see you doing. Whether you know it or not, it doesn't hurt to find some reinforcement on your approach and a good old fashioned pat on the back. It's the least I can do for you. I feel like I'm getting the same benefit from you.

I was thinking when I was reading your comment how I can relate to much of what you have gone through. The specifics are different in some areas. However, the fact is I pride myself on delivering results and following through on my commitments. After I got out of the Corps, I carried on my professional ethic to my employers. I worked between 50 to 80 hours to make significant differences and an impact they would not otherwise have gained- on salary. I had to do this for my own sense of security and bringing my wife and her son over from another country who I met on a deployment. After a few years, I was totally spent and took our young daughter and the rest of the family to move back to my home town- to slow down in order to go faster. I found myself in a prominant executive position that I was finally hoping to be able to settle down in long term. Little did I know, the challenges the CEO I worked for, in large part to the industry we were in, were practically unsurmountable. Consistent with my historical drive to be the best and delvier results, I did that at serious personal cost. Before things got too far out of my reach, I decided to turn my courage inward and put my life, and that of my family in to my own hands. I quit my day job and have since been working odd entry level jobs, going to school, and trying to use whatever free time I had into manifesting a business vision.

The one thing I could not escape, the value of what I was delivering in essentially running a business for someone else was a lot more than what I was getting compensated. I put my back into it, took ownership of the entire living thing, and vested myself to the point business decisions out of my control could dramatically put me at risk. Not to mention the money- if it was simply a matter of literal ownership, I could have been profitting tremendously from all my hard work. It's the better part of a year now, and a long one at that. Every day I have to reorient to the challenges of my own financial situation. It's certainly not stable or sufficient enough to be sustainable this way. Now I look around and see so many people taking the same risks. Most seem to make an effort to convey they are already a success. My real sense of it is most of them are going through the same thing in one way or another. There are some who really know they have professional skills that are of value and could be put to use for themselves rather than as an employee supporting someone else's business. There are also some who have a passion for what they are doing and are really drawing on the communion for inner strength to get them through. These people, in particular, are the ones I look forward to serving. I know what I'm good at and can do for them. I've got some uncommon talents to make a difference to help people accomplish what they set their mind to. When the masquerade of unsubstantiable success is dropped for the reality these are "people" working hard to improve their lives through starting their own ventures, this is where coming across as who you are honestly and in service to true needs really comes into play.

So when I see you, Mari, I see a lot of heart going into your work and I can empathize. You're not coming across with some kind of superficial product/ service, or approach that I can see. Everything signals genuine. When I look into the specifics of what you are doing, I'm really looking at this as a real business enterprise and reading into all the thought, hard work, sacrifice, and professionalism that is being put into it. I'm looking at my specializations and awareness of modern business dynamics and I recognize the things you are doing as spot on. When I looked into you in greater detail and got the background- the personal trials and the industry experience- I see it all taking shape into a legacy I know you will personally be proud of.

I can't wait to talk business with you. I'll keep my eyes open for your next post. If I have it my way, our meeting will be a great part of our mutual success we can both look back on. Maybe we'll be keynote speakers at a future Web 2.0 conference!

Best,

Anthony

By the way, the video i'm referring to was just posted by Jared on my network. I bet you'll get a kick out of it.

Hi Mari,

Sorry for the extended break. Why don't you cover the "What" about your ventures with me. Please refer to the initial post for my summary first impressions. I think we could enjoy this conversation so I want to extend my invitation for you to rejoin it at your convenience. No hurry.

Best,

Anthony

The What of Mari Torres this is a tuff one because there are many, many "What's" I have coined myself as the Network Marketing rebel because I have a love hate relationship with the MLM industry. I love it because when you find a product that you could truly represent, the opportunity is magnificent. I used it to start my company and I am using it again to fund my new ventures. I hate it because what is being taught is all the way wrong, there are a lot of inconsistencies in what a lot of the so called "leaders" are teaching.

Here is an example of what I mean; In MLM you are taught to tell all of your friends and family about the opportunity, as a business woman I have learned NOT to do business with my friends and family it is the quickest way to mess up relationships, furthermore, I don't want to work with My Mom or my brother. Everyone is NOT an Entrepreneur and in order to succeed in business you must at least understand the concept of what it is, there has to be a plan in place, structure and I am not taking about the structure that is set for people from the parent company of your MLM opportunity. I am talking about creating a business plan, identifying your target market , developing strategies to promote to those people and execute those plans. MLM does not teach that, they teach you to play "Follow The Leader" bring your prospects to a hotel meeting, do a 3 way call where you introduce your business prospect to your sponsor and tell you prospect how much more knowledgeable you sponsor is about a business that YOU are presenting. That is ludicrous to me.

I am the kind of person who feels that if I don't like something it is up to me to change it, so I decided that if I was going to take another go at MLM I have to do it my way and my way is building a solid team that is interested in learning business fundamentals and who are not focused on making network marketing/MLM a career but a means to an end. That is what it is for me, a means to an end. I am a distributor and a expansion leader for a company that offers wireless services, That is how I make my money, there is nothing more to it. You will not see me in a MLM Industry magazine representing any particular product, my plans for myself are much greater than making money.

I already consider myself a billionaire, who is accessing her money. I believe with everything that I am that I will be financially compensated in the way that I have always envisioned it for myself. My job is to follow my passion, my passion is helping people, although that part is kind of tricky because I don't plan on helping everyone I mean realistically I can not, and my helping does not include giving a street bum money, or buying turkeys for a poverty stricken community, not that I don't care about those issues, that is just simply not my calling. There are millions of people unaware of their potential, there are thousands of people that want to explore their greatness but are not sure how, those are the people that I am helping, the people that are making an effort to find themselves and that want to create magnificent moments in life through what they can offer.

I have a knack for helping people realize their abilities, I show them that if they take their talent and match it with confidence and the knowledge of how powerful they truly are, there will be nothing that could stop them from attaining whatever it is that they desire. That is what I am here for, everything else is merely a resource, through Visions In Motion, The Elite Team and my Network Marketing company I meet people who need me to remind them of who they truly are, bring out their passion help them recognize their purpose, one on one I work with these people, often times they have no Idea that of what I am doing , They think that I am just consulting them about Marketing or business, but once the conversation is done they are left feeling invincible full of creative thoughts and the confidence that they will accomplish their goals no matter what they are.

One day soon you will see or hear of me speaking to groups with thousands of people that need to hear my word, I am very clear on the fact that this service to people is what I was put on this earth to do. Everything I do, leads to that purpose.

Anthony I can't thank you enough for this!

Thank you too Mari,

I am on the same page with you. I had an experience with MLM...maybe 12 or 13 years ago. Now I have all these pet peeves for why not to do it! I'm amazed when I see how strong the push for MLM today is. Yet, it usually appears to me to be the same old goat. I feel sorry for the people doing it sometimes.

If you have something that is worth selling to anyone, then you should surely be able to sell it outside of friends and family. If you can't sell it in the market, why then would you want to serve it to those closest to you? I'm particularly ready to shoot down people who build up their schemes and pray on the ambitions, hopes, and desperations of the common person. If the business was so profitable, then they should be able to afford financing or employing you at a generous salary until such time as you are self-reliant/ succeeding. So those are just a couple easy ways to expose the scams and to do better.

Have you ever heard of the MIT Beer Game? It's a logistics simulation from factory to consumer...and all the steps in between from wholesaler, distributor, retailer, and so on. It's expensive and can be even more costly if not smoothly managed. Regardless, these costs get passed down to the consumer. Distribution through people is an impressive solution to the logistics problem. All that work from factory can be done from someone's home at a great savings to consumers. Plus, I have to think the service you get by dealing with a single person who really cares about your business should be outstanding. I will probably be getting into this in some ways myself as a modern business.

I'm with you on deciding to do things right. Most of the business projects I am doing are tied in to problems I simply did not see others solving to my standards. So I decided to do it myself. One of my lines includes Personal Consulting. My theme is I can help other people accomplish what they set their minds to. This is something I wouldn't mind doing for a living long-term. I'm still developing it out. I can say one thing that will be paramount to me are results that can speak for themselves. I might also add that I'm probably not going to take on clients who merely want to tie their shoes! I'm hoping to find people who want to do something truly amazing and appreciate what I can do to help them accomplish results they might not otherwise be able to do alone. So what you've mentioned seems to be closely aligned with what I am working on.

Mari, when you start talking about your knack- that whole paragraph in fact- that is powerful stuff. Isn't business a means to an ends anyway? My motives are to be my best, enjoy a high quality of living, and to earn enough to be able to do exactly what I want to do just how I want to do it. The other side of relational marketing is personal interaction (service). Whatever you are handing eachother, you have the opportunity to be a positive force in the other's life. Businesses today are looking to develop a close personal relationship with their consumers. People are looking for what they want rather than what is available. So people, in a sense, want a closer relationship with the producers or products and services they use. I am growing more certain by the day, the modern storefront is not going to be a Walmart. What is going to take it's place, including the massive profitablity, is already starting to form on its own...perhaps in conversations like this.

If I can ask a specific question before we move on to the "where" is, "What is the Elite Team?" I understand you have a group of people offering business advice/ coaching for the benefits of your membership. Are these coaches the team? Are the site members on the team just for joining? Or do people go through a process to become one of the Elite Team? I imagine the team is the specialist group who are teaming up to support others through your site. I would also assume each coach may offer their specific services on a consulting basis for a fee. Also, is the Elite Team your project or are you supporting someone else's project? I can understand if it is a cooperative.

One more thing, if you make a living through your wireless distribution services, I'd be interested to learn more about that if you care to share.

Thanks for sharing more about what you do. I am really pleased that we are getting into some details about you that you have not already covered on your site. This is great for anyone who wants to get to know you better. I think you are one of those people that, the more we look into, the more we like what we find.

I couldn't resist revisitting you Mari Torres...if you are out there listening. I've actually been looking forward to this post for a few weeks now...ever since I saw your latest project. You are a star, a modern professional, and a world-class media vision.

Ladies and gentlemen, I pose the question again...and this time in bold, "Who is Mari Torres?"

Right on. Let's start back at the beginning. Mari was just out on the discussion board and asked for opinions about her website banner page. Well it was fantastic, but that was besides the point. You could tell she was a seriously sharp network creator on the Ning platform. Mari is a professional of many talents. Still, I couldn't beleive she actually went to my profile, watched the video I had up at the time, and then engaged me on it. I give my attention to people, but few ever reciprocate in kind. What I find in Mari is a driven ambition for bold excellence, proprietary style, and demonstration by example. Fantastic!

You were right up my alley, Mari. Let's see, what else have I seen you up to? Well the Elite Team Network featured an innovative discussion encouraging members to comment about their experiences with other people. I tell you, that was hot and if you would ever like me to interview some of your members, it would be my pleasure. You are on the cutting-edge of modern business because you are a social networking and online marketing expert. It's hard to imagine where you found the time to get so good at those, given you were so busy in the private sector working traditional media marketing such as radio and the screen.

It's not that you don't work in the industry anymore. It's that you are evolving with it. Where was Mari Torres educated and who influenced her thinking?

I've enjoyed your blogtalkradio show many times. You represent a courage to be yourself and the contemporary initiative to use personal engagement, an integrated strategy of relationship marketing and technology, and niche customization/ style. What an impressive work you are.

How old is Mari Torres? I mean in general...I bet you have an I-Pod and a PSP to boot. But this being fun is just one side; I think you research modern media...especially next generation. You've always had some kind of video presence platform to promote. You post video replies in comments right from your computer. You feature interactive chat and video players on your site.

Now what's next for Mari Torres? So your latest project was mind blowing, but not all that surprising. I would love to invite you back to talk about that project in detail. Here is Mari Torres talking about how you can build an amazing social network, a presentation with real production value, an integrated technology platform and strategy, and a networked promotional channel for you to advertise on. This is a full on business. Simply awesome ladies and gentlemen.

Nascent Dynamics ( ) Explores Mari Torres....again.

Hey Anthony,

You just blow my mind you know that? Thank you so much for the attention that you have given my projects. Great things are happening now. I have a few things in the works one of which I am not at liberty to discuss at the moment but I will share the VIM Networks project. You may have seen the video but if now check it out!

After releasing this video I noticed that www.livestream.com is now adding video advertisement to all of the widgets on their platform, this tells me that I am definitely on to something and that other people can see it too.

The internet has changed so much in just the past couple of years and will continue to change at lightning speed so it is imperative that those of us who intend on staying productive in this field keep moving forward. Social Networking is evolving to what it was originally intended to do and that is connect people through mutual interest. There is so much spam and so many people talking about themselves and what they are doing that we have become numb to the approaches of big business opportunities. Now what will grab a persons attention is when you are genuinely interested in who they are.

I started using Twitter about a year ago not really knowing what it was about, I recently became active in that community again because of all the media attention that it was getting. My intention for it was to promote my business but what happened was far more than I expected.

I found myself writing about my experiences my thoughts, I addressed others and inquired about their interest, I noticed that I was writing less about my business and more about my thoughts, exploring others and their thoughts. That process made people interested in who I am.

I began to establish valuable relationships with people who are interested in participating in my ventures, who recognize my value because I allowed them the Choice to get to know me by simply being cordial and genuine. Who knew that the basics would catapult me to a level that I presumed would take years to do.

I have connected with
Danyel Smith the Editor in Chief of Vibe Magazine I am working on a project for her
Wyclef Jean - Grammy Award Winning producer working on building a network with him
Laurieann Gibson - Star Choreographer of P-Diddy's Making the Band
Erykah Badu - Grammy Award winning Singer Songwriter and "Master Teacher"

I have put my own theories to the test and I am proud to say that It really works! I must say, in order to be successful networking online you must abandon the thought of money being the primary reason why you do what you do. It is essential that you love what you do. Be driven by passion. Do not work in desperation to succeed enjoy the process of building your dream every moment is preparation for what is to come. Work in that manner and before you know it you will get to where you have always known you would be.

Anthony, I would like to know what things have transpired with you since our last meeting, catch me up!

You bet Mari!

Like I say, you are a fresh phenomenon who is making moves on the modern front of social networking. I've seen the presentation and thought it had some terrific production value. The concept sounds sharp.

I'm glad you asked what I'm up to so I'll get right to it. I think we work in parallel on a lot of levels. However, this professional effort tops any work I have done to date. On the other hand, I just completed year one of four I have planned for research and development of Nascent Dynamics ( ). I'm just a college student who makes good use of my online time. It's a work-in-progress, and that is something I present with complete transparency.

So I've just started incorporating Twitter. I'm more interested in the widget you can embed on Ning pages. It's going to take a little while to get into a rythm, but I like to make bold moves- so it should at least be entertaining! Most recently I'm proud of work I've reported on Twitter, including contact with Douglas Hofstadtor, author of Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies. I also left a note about my contact with the IBM thinktank; in retrospect I may have accidentally challenged Deep Blue to a chess match. I also recently posted that I provided a consult to an industrial engineering problem, and am producing several interactive case studies as I take the lead in pioneering a conceptual modeling methodology.
You might find I'm looking at social networking as a science- Holonic Social Networking.

Coincidentally, I am on a leadership thinktank on Linkedin, and we have a very modern discussion emerging about what a Leadership 2.0 should be. I've started meeting some fellow prior service Marines, and am going to be focussing on supporting them with my own leadership program which highlights some of the more professional attributes of doctrine, joint vision, technical strategies for evolving to the challenges of a globalizing and technologically advancing environment.

On Area Light specifically, I have been swarmed by a bunch of Nigerians! I continue to evolve the concept and the courtesy services. Now I am test marketing some activities that actually network in my business to the Area Light environment. I think the service aspect will be part of what my site is known for. I know you know what I mean because I've seen it on your sites. I want to master a service protocol that I can eventually staff, reproduce, extend out, and be integrated for other social networks. I'm also putting more attention into the personal dynamic, in producing a segment I call The Visionary Business Mindset...a narration of my vision for the site to become a world class modern online social networking media and content empire! With an emphasis on Soccer! Lol!

Slowly but surely I am putting together a Ning for my local geographic community. I always imagine you as SoCal. It's called Chicoplace, and I imagine the concept to be franchisable. Today I just decided to begin integrating my Facebook assets, because they now have customizable domains, and they feature networking by geographic location also. Mari, the world sure is changing fast. and I'm designing a segment I call F-11 Full Spectrum Dominance in Intelligent Search and Customized Interfaces. You see, I bet on some levels you'd be interested to come out and play with me. I'm having a lot of fun with it as you say.

I still feel comprtehensive focus on people you meet is very important and worthwhile. In fact, I've been watching you and all your announcements with great enthusiasm. It is a pleasure to watch you work! I'm going to make an online social networking magazine out of my site and it would be great to see some of your work come through. If you look at my home site BETA, you'll note I have in mind a very intense interface media. I want it to be like Oakley's Adobe Shock Movie Player. My business is forming right before your eyes, but slow in the scope of a four year evolution. By the time I get it fully functional and running smoothly, I intend to make a statement that I am one of the best.

One thing I am probably going to keep for sentimental sake is my main website page. It's like a placeholder that points to the site in prototype beta phase, but the vision statement is so perfect, even I use it as my home page to get me psyched for work. I've also got some rock feeding in from my playlist.com player. I'm going to bring innovation hard. Until then, it's all build up and break down while I set it up and test it out.

So Mari, this project of the VIM Network sounds terrific. However, I'd like to hear it put in perspective that has no idea of social networking on Ning. In my Chicoplace market, I'm going to be promoting to a real live community of people, professionals, and businesses. That sounds like the perfect type of platform for you to demonstrate your presentation to. I intend to introduce Ning to millions of people who don't have a clue about it yet- on Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Area Light, and Chicoplace. I want to make some moves and develop a reputation for being the best at what I set my mind to.

I can go on, but if you are anything like me, then it will please you to here of someone else out there who can stand their ground as a rebel!

Best,

Anthony
