Hey Moms,

You may, or may know of someone expecting a baby. If so, I would like to extend a helping, educational hand :-)

I have been teaching childbirth education for over 10 years now. Over the years I have seen a shift in where expectant folks are getting their information. People are turning to the internet more and more.

I want to let you know I have created an online Childbirth Social Network here at Ning to promote, and educate about preparing for childbirth from a different angle. I am very non biased as to how, and what methods a mom may choose (medicated or not, homebirth, etc.), I am more concerned about the role "fear" plays and its affect on the labor process and on baby. As an RN, I have seen numerous births and the influence of "stress" has on the birth and mom. This network talks about how to handle fear, and other non medicated resources. Not that I think medication is a bad thing - it has it's role. But this focuses on physiology and thought.

It's pretty new. I am building membership. It's free. Please spread the word. I think this is such an important addition to learn and use with everything else out there for preparing for this life changing event. The classes are pretty comprhensive. Moms can win a free class too. I don't want to put the link up to annoy anyone. You can send me a message here though on Sta.rt Up.

This is my business (one of them but the greatest one).

I invite you to visit and if appropriate for you, join.

Thanks Marjorie - I think that many women have a hard time because of FEAR...personally, I know that my body is MADE for it, and will provide me with all the painkilling chemicals I need. Natural childbirth and breastfeeding are my soapboxes...LOL

Well, having given birth the first time having an epidural was great! Although the gas and air alongside made me feel icky and I could not control my breathing to use it properly!!!

My second baby decided we would do it the natural way, which apparently is on the living room carpet in the doorway! No gas and air, nothing. It was in fact, although totally unplanned, obviously, a fantastic experience. Although should you find yourself in the position (no pun intended) it may be a good idea to ask the paramedics to close the front door!!!!!

I breastfed with my firstborn for 18 months because that is what the books say and the Health Visitor. My daughter however, who obviously from the above does everything the way she wants to, breastfed for 4.5 years!

Good luck.
