I have been on the board of more than one nonprofit and it is not as easy as it sounds. In the first place you have to take time away from work to attend the meetings and we only got to meet once a month so we did not really have a chance to get to know each other.

Think of the movie 12 Angry Men, everyone had their own reason for being there and coming up with a verdict was not easy. We spent hours talking about spending twenty dollars. I remember thinking once, I will just give you the money, just let me go back to work because you just cost me two hundred dollars.

My point is if you approach an organization with a funding plan you have to have a very clear plan. You can not make them do the work for you. These people all have jobs and they are giving of their time for something they believe in. I have never worked as hard in my life as I did when I was sitting on those boards. So be aware these are business people and they are not going to be sold easily.

Do your homework and bring me a program I do not have to sell and I will be more than willing to present it.

Blessings

Hello Linda & A Belated Happy New Year!

I more than understand where you are coming from when you speak of the time consumption of being a part of a Non Profit. I have "worked" throught the ranks of NABCA, to the position of Executive State Director. It is grueling and time consuming, as I am on the phone or a webinar daily, discussing plans, approaches, discussing organizations and 'vendors' that have approached us, and want us to 'promote' them, in one way or another.

The economic crisis has had obviously caused many corportations and businesses to 'pull' away from 'supporting' many Non Profits, due to cut backs, job lay offs, and the economic crunch, that they too are experiencing!

NABCA ~ the North American Booster Club is a Non Profit 501(c)(3) Organization, and is a company that has 12 years of 'real life' experience. It is simplistic, but has many facets. We guide, educate, train, and support 'booster clubs,' ~ G.E.T.S., in schools, colleges, church groups and youth groups. From A-Z, from starting, organizing, structuring, and continued guidance, supplimental insurance for school and church, youth, groups, scholorship programs, 140+ fundraisers that have the best returns on fundraising, and we 'teach' schools and youth groups how to get and keep the community, local businesses and corporations continually supporting them. In a nutshell it is one of the best programs I found when I was searching for a solution to my "kids' fundraising delemia's.

The membership is normally $395 for schools and groups, but NABCA is helping to support all schools by offering ways to lower the membership fees, ways to defer/delay payments, and low income and poverty schools by offering them free membership and support, and NABCA shows and supports all schools with Scholorships! I have attached a slide show that is presented at a NABCA Booster U Presentation. For more information you can go the website ~ NABCA, or contact me personally.

NABCA has been so successful, all across North America, in building booster clubs and their support base, that they have launched a New website, Help Fund Our Cause, that is free, easy, needs little to no volunteers, and available to any and all causes, Charities, Non Profits, Churches, Schools, Booster Clubs, Youth Groups, Parent Groups, Special Interest, anyone who needs to raise funds, whether Local, National, or Personal(example ~ family loses home due to fire, ect., or someone needing help to pay hospital bills due to a debilitating disease, ect), anywhere in Norht America! To find out more go to:
Help Fund Our Cause, or you can again, contact me personally to discuss them in more detail.

Again, as I stated in the discussion I started, I am not trying to solicit, sell, or recruit, but am trying to get the word out that this is what I found and they work for anyone, without a great deal of time and money having to be invested, if any! I am truly dedicated and passionate about helping others reach their goals and potential!

A Belated Happy New Year to You!

Sincerely,

Tamatha Burrus
