Do People Really Look Like Their Pets?

I've wondered about this question often - and if we do look like our pets, which came first? Are we drawn to the way an animal looks and purchase it because we already had similar characteristics or did we simply mold ourselves into the way our pet looked over time?

Well, after much debate and scientific study, the answer is likely "yes". At least that's the story according to research from the University of California by Nicholas Christenfeld and Michael Roy when it comes to purebreds. We do end up resembling our pets. The full study, Do Dogs Resemble Their Owners?, appears in the journal Psychological Science.

So why is this important to you? Well, if you're a pet lover like me, it might explain a lot. I have a miniature schnauzer and, personally, I have eyebrows that have gone wild. Have you seen a schnauzer? It's a scary thought. For fun, I'd love to hear how you resemble your pet.

I am the creator of a great social network focused on pets. Some ask me why I opted to develop such a social site, and it's kind of a funny story. Not long ago, the organization that employs me decided to have many of its' employees work from home. I am a social person, and missed the interaction with people every day. I opted to join MySpace to keep in touch with family and friends, but found that no one other than these specific folks wanted to talk to a grown woman.
So... I changed my page to OzSee ~ my wonderful miniature schnauzer! I had "friends" coming out of my ears. All of them expecting me to speak as my dog. There even was a lingo to learn like BOL (Bark Out Loud) instead of LOL (Laugh Out Loud). I was beginning to lose my identity in that of my cute pooch. As a result, Pet Lovers Paradise was born. I could get back to being me instead of OzSee, have a social life again, and share my love for my pets in one fell swoop. The wonderful thing is that I found out that I wasn't alone! There are multitudes of folks like me that love their animals beyond imagination and just want to shout it from the roof tops.

PLP is looking for individuals to partner with on our social community. If you are marketing anything pet related, please visit our site and view the scroll at the very bottom of the page. We are looking for viable interests that those with pets would have so anything from dog collars to pet newsletters - dog biscuits to fido sweaters. If you have an item to offer and wish to partner, feel free to join the site and we can discuss how to exchange banners.

Better yet - if you are just a pet lover, and can't wait for an opportunity to chat about your pet, please join us and brag away! We'd love to have you.

We'll welcome you with open paws and promise not to slobber on ya too much.
