Hello, dear members,
I just wanted to share my good news that my business project is moving forward again. The guy at the factory had been balking about having my dolls inspected, but he has become totally cooperative and sent me all the information I needed...and 2 friendly e-mails. I want to thank all of you for your prayers and support, and I'll let you know what is happening. The last three weeks were pretty rough, but I feel that things are about to speed up now. Thank you from my heart, and let's stay in touch. Paris.

Thank you, Dr. Koning, I appreciate your excellent information about something we often hear about...stress. But you put it in a different perspective. The perspective that we create our own stress and depression. A couple of weeks ago I left my doctor's office with new prescriptions for insulin and additional high blood pressure meds. As I walked to the train, very slowly, I decided to take myself in hand and change my attitude about my health. I have conquered many situations in my life, so why not try to get my body in shape...all it would take was determination. The same thing I always use to overcome other challenges. I am proud to announce that my blood sugar was 114 this morning, with a change in my attitude and diet. As Doctor Koning said, we have a choice...not only to control our emotions, but we can also create our physical well-being. Take the doctor's advice and live well. Paris.

Hello, felow SENIORS.
I just did a lecture for a group of seniors about the dangers of chronic stress. The founder of Rational Emotional therapy, the late Dr Albert Ellis, said: "Stress is an acquired syndrome". You get into stress mode based on the amount of "shoulds, have tos, musts, ought tos, and supposed tos" you are applying. You ar using rules and values to evaluate situations around you, and come to the conclusion:"it makes me angry, it upsets me, it is depressing". There is no such thing as a powerful "IT". You give meaning to events and you find things unacceptable, and you feel unhappy with a situation. So, you move from one self created stress to the next. You don't even think of not being part of the scene. You don't have to agree with what I am saying, but know that chronic stress has an immediate effect on your health, in particular your immune system!! and, a weakened immune system triggers a chain reaction of a variety of ailments. The American Academy of Family Physicians estimates that 70% to 95% of illness is stress related. You can do something about this; you can reduce your stress, have less pain, sleep better without medication, can concentrate better, slow down the
aging process, have more energy, lower your blood
pressure. Be more aware of how you get yourself into stress, such as: upset, anger, disappointment, feeling hurt, and how you can take yourself out of it too, or prevent these feelings from taking you over. Create your own happiness; happiness is a CHOICE!!! Learn how to stay emotionally in balance in an imperfect world. Most of the stuff you get upset about, you know already but you continue to react the same way, expecting a different outcome. How silly. One of my ex-clients used to get very angry every time he had to stop for an open bridge on the causeway. In the 8 years he has been living on the beach in South Florida it never occurred to him to drive south, to the next bridge, which is not close by a very busy marina, less boat traffic, less bridge openings. within two weeks his blood pressure lowered, also because of relaxation exercises he is doing now.
Think of what you can change in your life, to maintain your calmness and your sanity.
I am looking forward to your comments.
Take care.
