Hi Beth,

I don't really have a question, just a few pet peeves:

(1) Why do so many people surf traffic exchanges that offer so little returns on investment of time?

(1) Who is this Live Agent who wants to talk to me while I am surfing. If I wanted to chat with a
live person, I'd rather go to FanBox, LOL!?

(3) Why don't TE owners get rid of these local searches like DekKnows once and for all?

Hi Max!

Interesting comments... I see you are expressing yourself! *smile*

1. Gee Max, I don't know. Why do people chose to surf where they do?

2. That live agent that shows up on promo pages within traffic exchanges is the most tedious, annoying page ever created! Especially since it takes a couple of clicks to be able to continue surfing. Many exchanges ban these types of pages. Also there is a report site button on traffic exchanges for whenever there is inappropriate or offensive content, problems that freeze the timer, too many pop ups like the live agent one! and for the same problem that you address in (3) frame breakers such as DexKnows.

3. You ask "Why don't TE owners get rid of thes local searches like... once and for all?" This are annoying to TE owners as well. They are hidden pages like a pop up because they never show while surfing but as the page your are viewing loads the local search page like DexKnows breaks frame. What is doubly annoying, as any TE owner who has delt with this knows, is using the back button doesn't take you back to the TE. You need to go back a couple of pages from your back button drop down menu, quick report the frame break, and if it shows again close the tab or browser and start over!

I actually get phone books free from Dex delivered to my door step every year. I am going to give them a call a complain about this and tell them to not give me a Dex phone book ever again!

thanks for the curious questions Max!

AUTOHITS EXCHANGE - Tools and Tips

Setting up and running several autohits program presents a few challenges you should be aware of to keep your system running smoothly.

Traffic Exchange Owners are constantly fighting an ongoing battle to maintain clean
and trouble free sites because their are some online promoters who don't give a hoot if they annoy you as long as you get your attention.

Some of these annoyances are just frustrating, while others are downright malicious.

You may have to deal with popups, pounders, dial boxes and frame breakers from time time on sites that do not allow them, more so from autohits than manual which get more scrutiny from admins. The ones I hate most are "local searches" and "agent wants to speak with you"

More harmful are automatic downloads, viruses and trojans that seek to infect you PCs.

FIRST Time Is Money

You don't want to spend all your time monitoring your sites, so getting clean sites to
begin with is half the battle. The easiest way is to get recommendations from other users.

SECOND Do Your Homework

In any case, you will have to continually test and replace sites that are problematic to
work with.

THIRD Be Sensible

Always be on the look out for sites that offer 1:1 Ratios and reciprocal credits for
promoting your Aff Link. The difference in credits you accumulate over time can be
tremendous.

FOURTH - Be Prepared.

You need a good surfing browser. Use FireFox or my favorite Maxthon.com
Make sure you have your settings for Internet Options on IE and your primary surfing
browser properly checked to protect your computer from malicious attacks and unwanted cookies

There is a lot to cover here. In my Maxthon, for instance, I disable "flash movies,
sound and activex". I also enabled popups, web content filter and ad servers blockers.

IE is more extensive, but among the many checks I have are activex; first and third party cookies (I only allow for sessions); prompts for downloads and secured sites, etc.

I set my surfing browsers to cleanup after each session and clean my IE a few times a day and reboot. Keeping your browsers free from overload is a sure way to have a smooth surfing experience.

I also have McAffe site adviser that tells me if a site is safe - some new browsers do have that feature. And make sure you have an effective firewall and anti-virus software enabled at all times. I have built- in PC Scanners from Hp and Vista that is set to clean everything from registry to recycle bin on schedule.

That should give you an "heads up" on things to pay attention to, in case you were not
doing them already.

WHAT AUTOHITS DO I USE?

I have 3 to 4 sites that I have used for over a year that have proven to run 95% clean

NEW SITES:
