Hello to the members of this group. I have been a member for a couple of weeks, but have never introduced myself so I thought I should.
My company, Digital Excellence, LLC, offers all types of graphic and web design services. Examples of services are book covers, catalogs, brochures, websites, and e-commerce. We also offer other digital services such as podcasts (which are great for e-books for example) and presentations and video editing (great for seminars, book signings, etc.).
I would be happy to send you references of my work, including a book cover that my company has done previously for a publishing company. If you are interested, please send me an email at jenny@digital-excellence.com.

I am joining because I have written a book about the Presidential Campaign called, Truth Telling versus Lies, Damned Lies, Omissions, Fabrications and Lipstick On A Pig! I have two new chapters to include so I am not quite ready for publishing as yet. I hope to be finish and have it published before the summer begins. I am looking for a publisher who would be interested even though I plan on publishing myself. I look forward to discussions with all of you.

Hi Faye and Group Members,

I'm new to this site and excited to get to know people who like to write.

Just for fun, I wrote four horrible -- (That's right, really awful!) -- novels, lots of short stories, essays and other types of fiction. I've been writing as a hobby ever since first grade.

The more I learn about writing, the more I realize I'm an amateur. Like anything else, it takes practice, practice, practice.

So I signed up for the free e-course and look forward to interesting information and discussions.

Feel free, if you'd like, to read my super short writing samples at www.lynnslink.com.

Glad to meet you.

Happy Writing!

Lynn

I am in one of those rare but lovely phases where I can't stop writing. Often, I write as a forced activity, giving myself a quota of two pages a day. Not inspired, but still work gets done. The last two weeks have been inspirational. There's some story behind this
book. I began writing it in 1978, when, as I was driving home,
I suddenly had a vision of an ENDING, i.e. I knew the goal of
the book. Then something like dictation began happening,
the protagonist began speaking in my head, and that was chapter one. At the time, I had just won a big short story award from
Playboy Magazine, and had been invited to go to NYC, and sign
a two year contract with an agent. I then had some pro editorial
help available to me for work on this book, "The Gods Of The Gift'.
It's a sci-fi/fantasy tale. After a year of my agen's effort, the
book failed to be sold and the agency dropped it and encouraged me
to move on to the next book. Which also didn't sell. I was a kid.
I was NOT ready for success. But I continued working on both
books, and "Gods' underwent three complete rewrites and the
major rewrite in 96. Now I'm doing the 2009 Major major rewrite.I sent the ms of both books to an editor
with whom I had worked in the past. One book he praised to
the skies, the other he destroyed in a few paragraphs, ouch!
It doesn't matter which was which. I persevered in writing both
those books. My point is this: you never know when a failure
will turn into a blessing. If I had sold "Gods" in 1979 it would have
been a juvenile expression of my talent. Thirty years later and
the book is speaking to me, living in my dreams, and becoming something very startling and I think quite powerful. So, this is
my definition of alchemy: turning disaster into knowledge.
I just wanted to share this story. There's a line from the poet Rumi
that goes like this: "Don't worry about what doesn't come. By
not coming it prevents catastrophe."

Art,

Thanks, it probably was a bit of an open question on my behalf. But I am definately NO writer! I had an amazing experience and would like to share it with people and leave something that my children might be proud of?? I think your advice of just writing is quite relevant as I am always procrastinating and changing things.
