Understanding the mind of Corey Ward is like scouring through a library filled with books-trying to discover the secret to the fountain of youth. Her depth and perception of overcoming life’s difficulties is heightened by her experiences that have led her to reach out to others through the medium of writing, speaking and television.

Corey was born in Lima, Ohio. After graduating from Shawnee High School (the alma mater of television personality, Hugh Downs), she entered the United States Army as a Personnel Management Specialist. She exchanged her maiden name of Lawrence to Ward when she married her high school boyfriend, Dennis, in 1983. After relocating from Texas to Germany, she and Dennis started their family. When their firstborn was just 8 months old, Corey and her husband were reassigned to Augusta Georgia, where she served at Fort Gordon and received an honorable discharge.

Remembering her childhood dreams and goals, Corey began her quest to obtain her bachelor’s degree. The three year plan turned into a twelve year journey that began at Augusta State University, venturing to Paine College and ending at the Ohio State University with a major in English.

Corey’s two novels, WHERE’S DADDY? and LUST OF THE HEART touches on issues that affect our young adults today through fictional formats that allow the reader to follow the journey of the fictional characters as they deal with various issues of life. Reading these novels allow the reader to settle their own personal issues in a creative way. The fact that Corey’s father died on Father’s Day when she was a child gave her a story line that she felt passionate about.
"I believe that the trauma I experienced at 11 years old with my dad’s death was meant to destroy me and my dreams. However, it was a great moment when I realized that his death only prepared me for this time in history where our young people are dying on the inside from the pain of loss."
Corey says that some of our hurting teens are making strait A’ s and others are opting out of life through suicide (physical suicide, emotional suicide and social suicide ). "1 have an assignment to help mend the hearts of our nation’s teens through books, music and the spoken word-while making sure that my own children are secure and ready to face life’s challenges."

Ordained as a Minister through World Harvest Church of Columbus Ohio, Corey is the owner of her management company, Yeroc Enterprise and the First Lady of Second Baptist Church, where her husband Dr. Dennis M. Ward is the pastor. In this arena, Corey has written a women's manual entitled, A WOMAN'S GUIDE TO SPIRITUAL VICTORY and produced a CD, entitled FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS.
An advocate of volunteerism, she often volunteers with non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross and the United Way. Whether on the road, serving as a substitute teacher or spending quality time with her family and friends, Corey is ever cognoscente of her assignment to the young adult population of America.
