Strategist
Everything in life requires a strategy in order to achieve it - a step by step process. I'm 58 and a veteran of business analysis, restructure, taking companies out of bankruptcy, venture capital deals - you name it I've seen it in action.
As a business/project strategist I assist clients with - not only developing the strategies essential to developing or growing their business - but I also am hands on with assiting in efforts to organize capital to carry out the strategy. No - I am not always successful with the capital - but I am realistic with strategies that work and that offer a greater possibility for success.
I don't believe in 'home equity financing' for business. You just don't put your home, your family or your dog at risk - they are your security and salvation - no matter what the business does - gotta have a home to go to when the crap hits the fan.
If available, whether you are an individual looking for 'good' places to invest part of your money or for use in your own business - consider using 'some' (but don't over do it) of your 401K funds. Set up a 'self-directed' 401k so that you can manage some of your own money on deals that you can evaluate. Those currently managing your 401K aren't exactly perfect at looking after your money - so why not look after part of it yourself and still get the 401K benefit.
Just some thoughts from someone with lots of experience in business.
