Hi and welcome to my page! My name is Ellery Bennett and I'm glad you decided to stop by!
Let me tell you a little bit about myself and then maybe you'll post a comment and tell my friends and I about yourself.
Seriously. I really would love the opportunity to meet and learn more about you.
I lost both my parents at age four, my oldest brother and his wife brought me up in Detroit, Michigan. But instead of feeling sorry for myself like everyone was telling me I should of been doing, I did my best to keep a positive mindset and make the best of my situation. In hindsight I can see now that the situation made me strong and enabled me to accomplish all kinds of great things in my life.
You see, I learned very early on that achieving success in life is about making choices. When you consistently make the right ones you'll end up where you want to end up.
It's a pretty simple formula really.
Growing up without my parents was tough. But what made it even tougher was the fact there were a lot of drugs in the home I grew up in. We had love there, but drugs were there too. But to this day, I have never smoked anything or taken even a sip of alcohol. Why is that? It's because I wanted something more out of my life (and still do!) and I made the conscious decision to avoid doing what the "in" crowd was doing. As a result I made the National Honor Society in high school; was elected Class President my senior year in H.S.; and was named the captain of the football team I played on.
Had I made the choice to smoke or drink like everyone else I firmly believe I never would of been able to go on and play football at Northwestern University in the Big Ten Conference for four years on a football scholarship.
I had dreams and made conscious decisions that afforded me the opportunity to achieve those dreams.
The three greatest lessons I learned as a collegiate athlete was the benefit of adopting a never give up attitude; the understanding that practice makes a difference; and that putting forth my best effort will almost always put me in a position to realize the goals I have set for myself, no matter how lofty they may seem to be.
As a captain I learned the value of teamwork. I learned that the best way to set the standards I wanted my teammates to play at was to lead by example and perform them myself too. People follow people they believe in and trust. That's something I experienced first hand in football, corporate america and as an entrepreneur.
Why did I take the time to share all that with you?
For starters I shared something about myself in the hopes that you'll respond in kind and share something about yourself.
But also because I want to encourage you to go after whatever dreams you may have. It doesn't matter what you're facing or what circumstances you currently find yourself in either. You can make your dreams come true only if you can believe in them and then start making the decisions you need to in order to make them become reality.
I absolutely promise you that's the truth!
Now that's enough about me. Tell me something about you now by posting below!
