Thanks for the comment. To further those goals here on SUp.biz, I'd highly recommend you read Social Networking Customer Acquisition 101. It outlines the only proven process for turning friends and contacts on social networks into customers.
Let me know if you have any questions. I have plenty more tips, too.
There are only two times that people feel overwhelmed or spammed....
1) The first 48 hours. As a new member everyone is trying to be the first to say hello or pitch their product or service. If you can last through the first 2 days, then it becomes really manageable.
2) Accepting friend requests blindly. Before you accept any friend request ask them a question. If they answer it well enough, then make them a friend. Too many members get excited and accept every friend request they get. Once you accept them as a friend, you are essentially giving them the right to send you email about anything and everything.
If they can not answer your question, then they are here for just one thing.
