Greetings fellow business folk!
It is a pleasure to be part of this community. I look forward to good exchanges and mutually supportive relationships!
I am a commercial calligrapher & humor writer, and I love my well established family business. We employ real people from our community; we value their integrity, fine attitudes and personalities, their expertise and our totally gratifying teamwork in the office. We treat our customers as family and friends, because we know that we are all on the same team, their customers are our customers. Our company headquarters is in a converted barn, and operates on solar power. We have left 95% of this ranch property to wilderness and wildlife habitat. Our witty & whimsical magnets are handmade in California from made-in-USA raw materials. Our scraps and leftovers are donated to schools. We use recycled and reused paper & packaging materials. We firmly believe it is possible to make an honest living for ourselves and for our wholesale customers with good conscience and right relationship.

Hi Kitty,

Women are the care givers of the world. In today's time we are raised to believe that we can do everything (and most of us can) and we can be anything (which we can) we want to be. That puts us in a position of being care-giver, house keeper, bread winner, cook, taxi driver, peace keeper, pet trainer, laundress, organizer, bookkeeper, entertainer and goodness knows countless other titles. Throw in "business owner" and our list doubles especially if we have an outside "job" along with trying to run our business.

I know I fall into every cataloger above and then many more. By the end of the day I'm trying to figure out if I can find just a few more hours to advertise one or the other of my businesses. Time to network and say "hi" to all my friends. Then by about 11 pm I'm thinking "I have to work for my client at 6 AM and I haven't taken 5 minutes for ME"

We burn out quickly and want to do it all (after all we have been told how many times "I am woman hear me roar"). My "roar" is turning into a "meow". I'm trying to learn new things, keep my client happy with extra little jobs to bring in more income (I only have ONE client, he's keeping to his promise of keeping me too busy to have any others that is for sure) work for my client a 40 hour "regularly scheduled" week, trying to balance the books (husband is again out of work), relaunch both my sites, gain new customers, keep the house clean enough so that the health department doesn't crash down my door, keep my son fed and my husband somewhat in an "up-beat" mood. Taking care of all gets, well, tiring.

So, as a woman, a business owner, and the caregiver of all, what do you do to "refresh"? When your days are so busy trying to "roar" what do you do to make yourself "purr" with contentment? What "short cuts" have you found to make your day a little easier?
