- Music is more than a like, it is a gift and passion I enjoy gratefully and greatly. Play jazz primarily but love to write both instrumental tunes and gospel and country tunes; and a good deal of RnB. Henry Johnson is a great jazz guitarist out of Chicago and I met him via thejazznetwork.com or close to that URL. Cool guy and a brilliant player.
One gospel song is what I know and believe needs a voice and a nice arrangement to make it come to life. The lyrics were penned a few years back and I forgot the tune until I stubled upon it. No ME but WE can do exceedingly more than our lied to left brain logic lets us release but God enters in and now the creative is loosed. "Do not allow your hearts to be troubled..." It is clear we are not given a spirit of timidity or fret and worry, yet it is so common to hear ..."well, you are right as worry doesn't do a thing...BUT of course you HAVE to worry about your mortgage and bills and..." So sick of having lived like that and hearing it come out of folks mouths. Jesus said "Do not worry about the clothes..' and then twice more between Matthew 6:23 and 6:33. I'm not judging a worrywart as I slip into it more often than I want but less than I used to and not by my own will power and self-reliance. That is tripping and that's what trips us up; thinking we are together and on the inside all chewed up. That is what the tune's message is in large part but the bridge and title of the song is, "The Cross.."
