What best classifies you or your business?: established business (1-3 years)

IEDA

Based in the UK IEDA creates, designs and supplies materials, support and education strategies for small business particularly those looking to add new income streams to their portfolio.

You're not teaching your competition to do the same as you or compete more effectively with you, but using your existing project skill base to increase customer loyalty and develop new products.

When I started this service my aim was just to support a couple businesses I had an interest in as their owners were personal friends but as things grew it became clear that more businesses could do more for their customers, even small businesses. One excellent tool for a small business was a Health 'n' Safety support disc on how to use th products supplied and what risk assessments should in place when using the products. Just common sense things but for an additional small sum or for free a customer begins to understand that the loyalty travels both ways.

Call it education, business development or trainig it is aimed at creating true market advantage and in some cases we have linked it to mainstream vocational education so the your customers can in the UK at least access government funds to pay for training courses with you.

Honesty In Business - does recession give good reason for dumping it?

Over the last few months I have begun to experience a rising number of hostile telephone sales calls and some very agressive face to face encounters. As a teacher of the art of business and the protocols of running a business and a business owner I have very strict standards. However recently the students I work with are being put under more and more pressure to sell by any means possible.

Can we condone this style of honesty just to get enterprise moving? I think not.

Decembr time management

Development planning is always difficult at this time of as peoples minds turn to holiday and gift buying so now is the time to create an alternative work pattern, become flexible and generate interests in new market areas. Use the time to settle on reading and absorbing information applying to what you want to achieve in the next year.
