My Other Home-Based Business, PhilippineScript Designs
With my first business, PhilippineScript Designs, I really wanted to make sure I brought a sense of "heritage" to raising my daughter. When I found out we had an ancient Philippine script called baybayin it instantly became a PASSION. I HAD to learn it and I HAD to share it. It is always wonderful to introduce this little-known information about my culture and I truly believe I was led to find it. I have met extraordinary people who are interested in different aspects of ethnic culture, Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike. Because of what I do, my little girl knew the word "baybayin" by the time she was two. It was the MOMENT I knew I had something to pass on to her with pride.
The raw beads I use for my jewelry are imported from Cebu and is wood native to the Philippines: nangka, kamagong, bayong and rosewood. I burn the baybayin script, into each piece with a sentiment or name that is perfect for you, or your recipient. With each piece from PhilippineScript Designs, you wear a piece of our country, a piece of our heritage. I hope the simplicity of my pieces allows for further reflection about the history behind this beautiful script.
