I have just finished reading Napoleon Hill's book, You can work your own Miracles. Written in 1971, this book is the foundation for many of the modern personal development practitioners thinking. Not as well known as his best seller, Think and Grow Rich, nontheless it has great messages within.
His philosophy on PMA is built around the following factors;

Witnessing the terrible devastation and loss of life from the bushfires in my country makes me very grateful that my family and friends weren’t affected.

The human spirit is a powerful force. This was brought home by a man being interviewed on tv. He and his family had lost three homes and all their possessions.
His comment was, “we are not victims, we are survivors.”
