What is a Virtual Assistant? Think of them as the Rolls Royce of Personal Assistants!
As many mums and dads do, I took 'time out' of the rat race to raise a family. When the children were old enough I returned to work during school hours but that wasn't enough. I knew there had to be something more out there. What could I do that earned a decent living and enabled me to do school taxi runs and be home for them while they were sick or on holiday.
Light bulb moment: I've dreamt of running my own business for years. I thought to myself "Why not take a business course?" So I did. What service or product could I offer the wider community? Well I had over ten years secretarial experience under my belt with a strong focus on transcription services. I decided to research the market to have a look at what was happening in the industry and then I found Virtual Assistance. Virtual Assistants can do almost anything ranging from confidential correspondence, reports, theses, transcription, bookkeeping, newsletters, copywriting, brochures, even web design. And if they can't they'll find someone for you who can!
It is now a new year and I'm really excited! I've found my 'niche' finally. I love the written word and everything that it can evoke and in my spare time (what spare time?!) I write short stories for pleasure. I have a gorgeous website but found I could improve on how 'SEO friendly' it was, so I am in the process of rewording that and I am also gaining experience writing articles. Towards the end of 2008 I scored my first copywriting job. Yes I know, it's not exactly Jane Austin but I get to play around with words so who cares. As well I've taken my resume service to a new level and begun writing Professional Resumes and yes, there is a huge difference!

In fact in the little bit of time I have been here since starting in August I have received 84,236 (and growing!) unique visitors to my website with a whopping 346,624 page views! I want to say that even though there are just 28,000+ members here there is a lot more traffic rolling through here that never take the time to register as a member. The main thing I personally do is jump in and put consistent activity in here at Sta.rtup.biz to grow my own network. Remember that wallflowers usually build very feeble networks.
