Vern Irish & Bruce Gokey. Both have experience with this type of business and all it encompasses. With over 56 years of combined experience, We feel we can make this project grow into something profitable, successful and memorable.
Bruce Gokey has over 20 years experience in retail customer service, 11 years which was management/owner experience and 7 years in custodial. Bruce has taken a several businesses that was failing and turned them around into profitable, viable businesses! Bruce has a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and profitability. Bruce knows an ethical, moral company will attract a good, strong, growing customer base, provide fantastic customer service, and have a strong profit. Bruce also knows it takes dedication, hard work, and smart business decisions for any great business to become successful in all areas.
Vern Irish has worked with the United States Forest Service as well as the Michigan Dept of Natural Resources taking care of campgrounds combined experience of 5 years, and has 3 years experience in the motel industry, 20+ years in customer service and 6 years with the United States Postal Service. Vern has also owned and operated his own successful small businesses over the years. Vern has a strong work ethic, and knows giving fantastic customer service is an important key to success. Vern also has 8 years of training and actual experience in the Security field.
Together they have partnered several times over the years in business. Together they work off the others strong and weak points, to make a cohesive team that is unbeatable.
Our Commitment to our customers is the same as the commitment to our children, honesty, integrity, a high set of morals, and to have an unselfish heart.
Vern Irish co-partner on the website almost-free.info we are in Northern Michigan. A friend of ours helped us find some good informational products so we came up with almost-free.info and thought we would give the internet a shot for making some extra money since my partner and I recently lost our jobs . I (we) are looking for insight on how to do this properly and get ourselves noticed on the web with no money to invest as we at this time are at 0.00 dollars to our name. My original thought was to just start a website and ask for folks to just send us a dollar and it blossomed into www.almost-free.info. I stumbled across ning looking for ways to promote our website and then joined your group so I'm looking to promote and get helpful info suggestions have someone with better qualifications to look our site over and see if we are on the right track. I also would like to thank everyone for the warm welcomes and new friends and I hope to get to know you all better.

For this movement to gain mass attention, we need to build an army capable of garnering 500,000 Michigander signatures in late 2009 / early 2010 in order to qualify for the 2010 November election. Together, you and I will restore a tax system that serves Michigan's workers and businesses, instead of serving politicians and lobbyists !
The Michigan FairTax plan - a movement started by working, "salt of the earth," Michiganders - is your call to action to enact a rational tax plan that will stop legislators from being able to barter our tax system to pick winners and losers (like providing "tax expenditures" for the MOVIE INDUSTRY) - all at our expense! Our goal is to SCRAP the Michigan income tax because the system is broken. Working together, you and I (there are thousands of us), can get the word out about a fairer, progressive consumption tax - the Michigan FairTax. In order to give Michigan voters the power to choose, we are laying the groundwork for a ballot drive to get the Michigan FairTax on the 2010 general election ballot.
What's more, every Michigan resident-family will receive a monthly "prebate" check, in amount based on family size (.0975 x $ [ poverty level per family size] ). This will ensure that NO Michigan family will EVEN BEGIN paying the MI FairTax on goods / services unless, or until, they exceed poverty-level spending. Thus, the MI FairTax rate would effectively be 0% on all monthly family spending up to the monthly poverty level, thereafter it would be 9.75%. A reasonable average effective rate, inferred, would be about 5.5% (that's without putting anything away!) Monies placed into savings are not available to spend, and therefore would result in a further effective tax rate reduction.

Under a FairTax system, points of collection will be dramatically reduced (from millions of individuals to considerably fewer retailers, many of whom are already collecting sales tax). With a Michigan FairTax, income tax-- returns, audits, interest, and penalites vanish.
Goods prices & service fees carry income / payroll tax compliance costs - "a hidden tax," ultimately paid by us. The FairTax will externalize these costs, making them visible. Michigan exporters will then be able to jettison the FairTax, prior to shipment, making Michigan products more competitive, globally. The MI FairTax is NOT applied to non-retail, business-to-business purchases, as this inseparably embeds taxation costs in prices of finished goods and services.
This plan is revenue neutral, as it-- ends "first fruit" confiscation of wages, stops the practice of hiding consumer taxes in retail prices, makes the true cost of gov't visible, and properly pays for gov't as we meet personal and family needs.
