I love learning new languages. I think it's absolutely wonderful too, that living here in the US I am surrounded by people who've all traversed the world to be here - and have brought a bit of their culture with them. Being able to say a few words in another's language is like saying to them "I am interested in who you are".
I encourage everyone to take a second language if they haven't already. I'm connected via ecademy to many wonderful people in various foreign countries who all… Continue

My day job is working in a large Retail Company (More about that on a separate blog) but with my personality I needed to be doing many things at once (with at least 50% of them being fun!). I've been told so many times over that I am the Perfect Salesperson. Sales though, is not known to be a steady, reliable income, therefore I've always put my eggs in the 9-5 basket.
On a side note I believe wholeheartedly that God is in control of all things and He leads us or guides us along the… Continue

These days no one can seem to find time to spend with their families. Very few actually sit down to dinner with their spouses and children. With today's economy we really have no time for anything but work to survive. I decided we will not fall into that rut since we are now raising a grandchild. I have found a job where Ariyah and I can spend time together and still make a profit without trading one for the other. Ariyah goes with me to put out my Avon brochures and yesterday we sat in the… Continue

New Job, Big Surprise
There is nothing worse than starting a job with a vibrant spirit only to learn later that everyone is making $10,000 to $15,000 more than you are. What happened? Assuming education and professional experience are equal, then we have to backup to the interview. During the interview, did you adequately convey your value in the interview? Did you show the hiring team how you were going to contribute to the team? Did your answers signify how you were going to make… Continue

In a recent job interview seminar, a participant asked the following question: “Should I send an email or a thank you note?” My response was, “Send both.”
The reason for sending both correspondences is based on the Law of Six, an effective sales conversion model. The goal of the Law of Six is to convert an influential buyer into a client. In the job interview process, you can personalize the Law of Six to convert your influential buyer (the hiring manager) into… Continue

Malcolm Gladwell, author of The Tipping Point and Blink, was the first speaker at the May 2008 New Yorker Conference. “Stories from the near future” was the theme of the two-day conference. Albeit condensed, here are his words and my comments from his talk regarding the “challenge of hiring in the modern world.”
All aspects of our society are undergoing a kind of collective crisis when it comes to hiring. That relates to something I call the… Continue

Do any of you remember those small bouncy balls we used to get out of the machines, for a quarter, that when you threw them in the house, they would bounce all over the place before you could catch them?? That is what I have been doing! Bouncing off of every wall available! Well, Now I am just bouncing off of one wall! Instead of actively running 7 blog sites and the store, I am running the store but have found that I can do it all right there.… Continue

2,000,000 to 100,000,000 UL Insurance Policy with Absolutely No Out of Pocket Cost.
Is it to good to be true? It probably sounds to good to be true but the opportunity is real. In fact the opportunity was recently described in an extensive write-up in the New York Times. It hasn't always been part of the life insurance industry, however, because only recently have financiers devised a way to make it work. Life insurance companies , of course, are not particularly enthused about it because… Continue

Management takes brains. Leadership takes brains, guts and heart.
Management moves people. Leadership moves companies.
