The Use of World Wide Web
We all know the workings of the World Wide Web and the significance it has in our daily lives, especially in this present day and age. Hitting the search button on our favorite search engine, keeping in touch with friends and family across the world on various social networking sites, buying air tickets or selling old clothes off on auctioning websites have become a part of our lives. And all this is possible with the new age technology that has been brought into…

Web 2.0: What is it?
While the websites used when people first started to use the Internet may roughly be categorized as web 1.0 websites, those used now are known the second generation or web 2.0 websites. While the former are static in nature and carry a lot of restrictions on usability, the latter are technology intensive and provide far greater access and mobility.
The Web 2.0 technology is also way faster, allowing one to send and receive endless information from all over the world…

Today, when so many people are opening up their businesses online, you cannot afford to be left behind. You have to be at the top of the game, and Web 2.09 is going to help you do just that. Web 2.0 is actually the social media environment. It is all about sharing and spinning information to everyone. It is about keeping people connected, building bridges between friends and strangers alike and helping people to join a world-wide community where everyone can say something, and contribute too.

Have you heard it? There's a buzz like never before on the Internet. Everyone is talking about Web 2.0. If you're like many people, you may think it's a marketing gimmick and quite an overused statement. If so, you would be at least partially right.
Fortunately, there's another side to the story. Underneath all of the chatter is a concept that is even more powerful than the hype that surrounds it.
The concept of Web 2.0 started as a conference brainstorming session between O'Reilly and MediaLi…

Last week the Wall Street Journal (
www.wsj.com - Mark Bauerlein) had an article about Gen Y not being able to "read" each other. Which got me thinking "Is non-verbal communication" all that important? Is the sound of a person voice or the smile on their face needed? Nielsen Mobile reported late last year that teenagers on average sent and received 2,272 texts per month. A year earlier the National School Boards Association estimated that middle an…

In this week's Business Week magazine, its main article entitled Big Blue's Global Lab discusses how companies such as IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Proctor & Gamble and Eli Lilly are collaborating all over the world with their geographically disbursed offices, universities, governments and even other companies in their R&D efforts. IBM actually calls theirs "collaboratories" - with the potential to set up over 100 worldwide over the coming years. "The world is our lab now," states John E. Kelly…

The world is full of associations and associations are full of members. It would be valuable for both associations and members to have comprehensive, complete and easy dialogue of information around the organisation.
Yet, many association websites are purely one way. The association puts up pages or material or news, and members see it, if they happen to look. There is very little opportunity for interaction and maybe very little reason for them to ever look at the site at all. It's a pretty sa…

Gettzooks is a new social networking platform that came into fruition, mainly due to the interest so many people showed in the “My Music Ticket” fiasco.
Getzooks uses the basic web 2.0 concept of helping others and in turn helping yourself. In fact with what is going to be available with the software you could likely say that Getzooks is a for runner to where marketing Web 3.0 is going to take us.
Portions of the money generated by Getzooks will go towards helping people in the world less fortun…

The social network exists in order for communication to occur without the added burden of feeling like a sales pitch is being included with each message. What is being developed on the social network is a feeling of trust and friendship. This is the time when we find out what we can do for others, not what they can do for us.
It is only after we have fostered a feeling of trust that we can approach our friends with the hope of expanding our business list. The business connection with our friend…

Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers). Like most Web 2.0 areas, social media marketing is not a very well defined or even understood marketing tool. The so called experts have seemed to latch into one or two areas, learned how to use them and hand the word expert on the back end of there name and off they go. Dare I say there are no long term experts only people running ahead of the pack. Truth is we are all running not just to catch up but to keep up it this evolving web world. What was once true 6 months ago has changed. E-mail, so…

Is it possible as I alluded to yesterday to market and measure your marketing to each customer as an individual in real time?
There are already easy things you can be putting in place to get your marketing on the cheap. Things like auto-messaging response to emails. On-hold ad messages on your phone. Cross referencing your CRP for name, telephone number, company name, buying patterns.
If you were to look at the dashboard or your car and see all the little gages and buttons what do they do as a…
