Greatness

One of the most well known confidence building exercises is to list your own strengths and natural abilities. By looking at the list it can make you say “Wow, I really am good!” Another great way of building your confidence and getting in touch with how great you really are is to ask friends, colleagues and people who you know for feedback on your strengths and natural abilities. Your practical assignment is to list 5 people who you know and trust for this exercise. Make sure they are from d… Continue

Life is too short for drama & petty things; so kiss slowly, laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly.

Do you have the ability to accept the things you can change and the things you cannot change? Do you have the ability to accept that other people are out to change them, rather than you changing them? Do you accept that you are who you are, regardless of what others think? Can you accept the many changes that take place in your life? If you answered yes to one or all of these questions then you are off to the start of improving your personal life. If you are willing to accept, have the abili… Continue

An International Request For Kindness

Usually I take time to write ideas that may help others with their business or personal development. Tonight I am moved by words that I read on another website. Instead of attempting to write my own words, the following is from the website I mention: "Hidden amongst the lush rain forests North East of Melbourne, Victoria, is the rare jewel that is Bruno's art and sculpture garden. The original and unique artworks of sculptor and painter Bruno Torfs have brought joy and inspiration to thousand… Continue

Reflections on One Day in a Life

One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death. The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed noblema… Continue

Improving Your Personal Life

Your mental health is an amazing part of what makes you as a person. Personal development is a way of life that effects your mind, actions, and how you treat others around you. It plays a vital role on your over-all well being and the relationships around you. Often times, we get so caught up in the physical aspects of what’s on the outside and forget to take care of the inside. Exercising our brain consciously and subconsciously is an important factor when improving one’s life and creating a he… Continue

What, I need a coach?

Welcome to the world of coaching. You talking to me, I need a coach? Well perhaps I do, but I really don't want to admit it. Of course, we all think that we can "go it alone". But remember, it takes two to tango, and it just doesn't look right when only one is dancing. I remember my very first coach, actuallyhe was my friends dad who "volunteered" to be the Little League Coach that year. I wanted to be a pitcher. Well, I have to tell you, I couldn't hit the west side of a barn if my life depend… Continue

Today is your only concern. You have no control over tomorrow or yesterday. Today you are going to get the most of your day while working to improve your personal life. Goal Setting for Children and Other Small Creatures

Goal Setting For Children and Other Small Creatures is probably the single most important article you will ever read. As I read and re-read draft after draft it became clear why so many people have a problem setting goals. It’s a darned hard topic to write about and that makes it difficult to understand. Add to that all the gobbledygook and nonsense that has surrounded the topic for eons and it’s bound to affect the way you think about goals. It also occurred to me during all of the editing tha… Continue

Cntrl/Alt/Delete

I don’t like to watch or listen to the news very much. In fact, I find most news media to be nothing but hype to sell copy that generates profits. And for years, I have always wondered how accurate the stories are. I mean, think about it, you are hit with a 45 second blitz of doom and gloom. Poof, it’s gone, and most likely, you will never hear, see, or read about any positive outcome. But the news does have its place. It’s great for telling you where you are, that is if you accept the fact that… Continue

The Purple Cow

Who is a Master? Masters are those rare marketers who use the power of 'what they know' about their product and market to attract more, and better clients, consistently. Instead of hammering away with a sales pitch that creates resistance in the mind of prospects, they attract customers by freely sharing what they know. The Master gains credibility in the eyes of his prospects, customers, and clients. You become a trustworthy and knowledgeable friend who can solve their problem. This is the ab… Continue

Lessons From Children

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." Pablo Picasso As I sit here this afternoon and listening to some music from the early 70’s, I am taken back to a time when it would have been simpler to have made different choices in my life. It all seemed so simple, life was simple, and the big decision of the day was what movie we would all go to Friday night. Frankly, it was simple “back in the day”. In my quiet contemplation today, I came to the conclusion… Continue

Time to Smell the Roses

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold December morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that a thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried up to meet his schedule. A minute later, the vio… Continue

10 Things to Wonder About

Every once in a while, I get up earlier than usual. This was one of those days, and although it is about 8:15am now, I have been up since 4! I have some music playing in the background. It is a series of songs that I put together that run from being intense and tearful to light and lively. Within that framework, I began to wonder about things, and it was during one of the lighter songs that I came up with the following: "The Top 10 Things to Wonder About". 9 of them are silly. The last one has… Continue

A New Beginning

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Lao - Tzu, The Way of Lao-tzu, Chinese philosopher (604 BC - 531 BC) Although this quote dates back over 2000 years, its message is quite current. Each of us, regardless of our race or country of origin, can, at any instant, begin the journey of a thousand miles - begin the journey of our lives. This journey is in reality, the journey in to ourselves; something that we have not been given a "manual" to guide us. We are all beginners on t… Continue

Marketing & The "Swing"

It was April 19th, 2002, and I had the privilege of being invited to play golf (only the 2nd time that year), and actually only the 4th time ever in my life! I had never stepped foot on a driving range. When I accepted the invitation, I did state that I was a duffer and wanted them to be aware of that fact. No problem I was told, just come and have a good time. So, Wednesday arrived, and there I was, at the club to meet the other members of my foursome - the managing partner of my company, a hig… Continue

Perseverance

It is widely held that one of the most important ingredients in business success is perseverance and deciding on a strategy and sticking with it. I would agree, but you need to be clear that the strategy is in alignment with your passion in business and your natural action and communication styles. It’s also helpful to have effective strategies to follow through on what you set as your priorities, goals, plans, calls to action... and other components of your daily business activities. These prin… Continue

Time to Unplug

As millions of people flooded cinemas several years ago to see the "Matrix" movie, most of them had no idea that in fact they were plugged into a real-life matrix. However, the real life matrix is not run by power-hungry computers; it has everything to do with the way people have been programmed since they were babies. Before virtually everyone learns to talk, they become plugged into the Matrix of Fear and Limitation. Another name for it is the Culture of Lack Programming, or the Poverty Consc… Continue

Dangle Your Carrot

In April of 2009, I will be purchasing a new motorcycle. I have checked out a few so far, and have set my eyes on one particular bike. I will pay for this bike in "cash". This fully dressed bike will be just over $18,000. Now, that may not sound like a lot of money, but think about it. How often does one have $18,000 in pocket change to go out and make a purchase? This is the "carrot" I have dangling in front of me for the first part of 2009. My question to you is, "what's your carrot" for 2009… Continue

Relationships, Slowing Down, Finding Value

I have written in my blogs of my personal perspectives about life and business. Today, I am feeling a bit different, and geez, it is the holiday season, people are hustling and bustling about, finalizing their business year, wondering about 2009, paying bills, trying to figure out which holiday party to attend, and so on and so on and so on. For some, this becomes the most hectic, most emotionally draining time of the year. Today, I was reminded of the lyrics from a song that goes back many man… Continue
