How is your Business being affected by the recession and what have you learned from this?

I live in the UK and I remember the last recession we had, back in the late eighties/nineties. It was a dismal time and the whole country was plunged into despair. Jobs diminished, house prices dropped and this period seemed to go on forever. Many people lost not only their jobs, but their homes too and a bleak reality was forced upon them.
