You know, writer's block is going to be the death of me yet. I can't take this any more. Isn't this how you feel? You attempt to write one sentence and the paper you wrote it on is balled up and in the garbage before it's even written entirely. Do you agree? If yes, join the club. Now, I am sitting at my desk again (Which is where I am supposed to be). My neighbor who sits in the cubicle next to me (Who has a professional Mohawk I should add), was out of the office. I am bored out of my skull again. There is nothing to engage my mind at all. Not to mention that it's freezing in here. Great, now my poor brain is freezing to death. The Boss probably figured out already that my head hit the monitor. This time I am counting the butterflies in my head. One...two...three... one-hundred... one-thousand. (Shaking my head) Anyway, I decided to get up and have some coffee. Instant this time. I have two mixtures I concocted, one for flavor and the other for potency with milk and 2 sugar packets.
While I listen to my co-workers banter back and forth, I decided to go through the next issue in my head. I wanted to focus my attention back on Web Hosting. When I went back to my desk after a few hellos in the long hallway, I began to write down what it is I should research. There are so many sites that have articles on web hosting, web design and internet marketing that can aide my search. I still had to get through my day doing a few little things given to me by the Boss. Afterwards, it was break time. At 10:30 in the morning I went for a little walk. I trolled around the little boutiques and had a little chat with mom on my cell phone and bought a snack. Went back to my desk and wrote some more. I found that this article you are reading has come to mind before the Tip of the week and valuable resources. How backwards is that? There were a few things I needed to determine:
1. Why is web hosting so important?
2. What role do web hosting services play in business?
3. Who offers the most flexible services?
4. What are the trends in web hosting services?
5. Finally, how can affiliates benefit from reseller accounts?
So, do you see my challenge? I needed to do my research. There is no way I am going know what I am talking about if I don't get information to back it up. I decided to (when I went home), to go to the forums and read a few articles that could help me get my point across. I needed to make sure that I wasn't writing about something I didn't already know or could find out. The Reason I emphasize research is that it is very important to get your ideas together. I had to commit paper a few guidelines that will help me get my point across.
I know you’re wondering Stephanie what does that have to do with conquering writer’s block? Well, you have to approach and admit to yourself that you are in a drought as it were. Then you have to find ways to focus your attention on your goal. What is that goal? That goal is to write articles to your target audience. No matter the topic, you want to make certain that you are genuine, poised and have knowledge in the industry you are writing without sounding redundant. This is no easy task. Even though you know or have experience in the field, words leave you. I know they leave me. Sentences seem pointless especially when the ideas are sitting right in front of you screaming. Still, you can’t get them to come together.
What can be done to snuff out this drought? Consider a few things. Now keep in mind some of these ideas are from the last Article” OMG I can’t think of what to write.
1.Do Your Research: tackle Writer’s block head on by feeding your brain with knowledge. Also read the last few articles you have written.
2.Take A break: If you are like me, you have a day job that saps all of your precious energy. Before you consider writing, eat your dinner and relax. Read your paper.
3. After you have finished #2: Commit to paper the main topics you wish to write. Then use # 1. Do your research.
4.Write down your goals for each topic: I never proceed until I have finished this task. I need to know how people will benefit from this topic the what, who, where, and why of that topic.
5. If you’re at work: work with the view that everything is connected. For Example, if you are a sales consultant, why not make an illustration as to how internet marketing and sales connect. What is the parallel nature of each? Mention briefly in your outline the challenges of being a sales Consultant and how that applies to Internet Marketing.
6. Finally, listen to your surroundings: A change of scenery goes along way. You never know how many times I am able to write when there are people milling around. They are about they’re business but the ideas and all your goals come together and the next thing you know you have an epiphany and you are writing and editing your articles. What I am saying is get some sun to jump start those brain cells.
In conclusion, the whole main point is to look at the problem at hand. Tackle it by committing to paper your goals and what you want out of your article. Write down how your target audience is going to benefit from this information. Then listen to your surroundings and follow the six guidelines.
