Ford and the American Dream: Founded On Right Decisions

By Clifton Lambreth with Mary Calia, Melissa Webb and Patrick Doyle

Ford and the American Dream is the Ford story that’s never been told! After the threat of the potential bankruptcy of the Ford Motor Company surfaced in December 2006, Ford Motor Company insider Clifton Lambreth decided to set about the task of recording in the form of a book the events and decisions that led to that crisis. The threats facing the company have the potential to destroy tens of thousands of employees’ and dealers’ livelihoods. It is not a single, isolated corporate incident but a representation of the American Dream eroding daily.

As a twenty-plus-year veteran of the Ford Motor Company, Lambreth is in the unique position of being able to give—with an unfiltered frankness and transparency—an interesting perspective on much that has transpired during his tenure.

Most of the lessons communicated in Ford and the American Dream are universally applicable to other companies as well as those in the automobile industry. There are many land mines to avoid so other companies don’t find themselves in the same predicament the Ford Motor Company is in today. In this accurate and truthful account, the novel begins with Chapter 11 (symbolic of the Ford Motor Company’s present plight on the edge of Chapter 11 bankruptcy) and concludes with Ford’s return to greatness.

"One of the most intriguing stories I have ever read. You experience the spirit and timeless wisdom of Henry Ford as he deals with the current issues of the day while he assists with returning Ford Motor Company to its greatness!" — Charles “T” Jones, author of Life Is Tremendous. Thank you, Clifton, for ending your story on such a positive note.

"To me, Ford is as American as apple pie and baseball." — Paul J. Meyer, author and philanthropist
