A Bundle of Wisdom - In Memory of Sweetpea

I can turn this into a very sad and picturesque love story. But, the pain cuts too deep and my swollen eyes are dry and burning from the all-day, off-and-on sobbing. Sweetpea is dead. My love. My little friend. My family. My most tender and loving feline has unexpectedly expired... in my arms... right before my eyes, and it feels as if my heart has collapsed.

We slept together the night before and played her favorite cat game this morning shortly before she... died. And now she's dead. Just like that...

But, oh the memories... the loving memories of what she has taught me. To love again. To trust again. Patience and gentleness... Even innocence... All of which I lost long ago when life whooped my behind and took my name later. She looked in my eyes and showed me... me. All my selfishness, my temperament, my frustrations... She taught me how to become selfless, gentle... how to hold, caress, cuddle and to smile even when there's nothing about which to smile. She, Sweetpea, taught me these things... My sweet and gentle baby...

What she has taught me most of all is how to love even harder... to give even more regardless of my circumstances, regardless of who hates me, or what hurts me... She has taught me to embrace pain. Because pain is a rugged road that leads to the golden pavements of comfort, and without pain I would never be able to identify and truly appreciate the goodness and the abundance of life.

She was my little mentor... my little pudding... My little Sweetpea... One of the sweetest and wisest kitties I have ever had the honor of keeping in my company...

There has to be a Heaven for her... I love you so much and too much Sweetpea, and I will keep you in my heart and my memories of you will never perish...
