Advertising thru Safelists and Traffic Exchanges – does it work ???

Free Safelists and Paid Safelists are becoming a very popular way of advertising websites and programs via e-mail. Safelists are lists which contain email addresses of individuals which have agreed to receive email from the other members of the safelist. Some safelists contain thousands of members. So, whether you join a free safelist, or a paid safelist, you too can email those members of the list about your website or offer.

Some safelists allow you to join free - but with limitations. Such as - if you join free, you might only be allowed to email a certain number of members only once a week. However, paid members are allowed to post every day or every other day.

A very important factor when using a safelist is to have your email opened. A catching subject line will do the trick. Look at all the emails you receive – study the subject lines and you can learn what it takes for an email to be opened.

Another important factor is not to use your primary email address when joining a safelist. You are bound to receive quite a number of emails from the other members of the list – so the best way is to set up an email address especially for that list. Gmail lets you open several email accounts for free.

• One of the best lists that I am a member of is ViralURL. I find this to be the MOST responsive list of all. I do not know if as a free member one can email other lists members – but as a paid member I can email 3,000 random members every 3 days – which adds up to 30,000 a month. TRAFFIC EXCHANGE and SURF SITES

A traffic exchange and surf website receives website submissions from webmasters that join traffic exchange networks. The person who submitted the website then has to browse other member sites on the exchange program to earn credits, which enable their sites to be viewed by other members through the surf system. This increases the number of visitors to all the sites involved.

Exchanges enforce a certain credit ratio, which illustrates the amount of websites the surfer must view in order to receive one hit through the program for their promoted website. Many sites offer the ability to upgrade one's membership level for a more equal credit ratio.

As the viewers are all website owners or affiliates, it is possible that some might find certain member sites interesting and thus make note of them on their own sites, sending more traffic their way. Most traffic programs also impose a time limit when members are browsing, ranging from 10 seconds to 60 seconds.

Some traffic exchange sites also offer payments for viewing the minimum number of websites imposed by the particular site. This in itself promotes a win win situation – getting paid and getting ‘eyeballs’ on your own websites and banners.

A lot of people are allowing themselves to indulge in this form of self development. I figure with highly targeted traffic I will have the advantage of giving exactly what they came to get and pay for. My readers want to spend money on themselves because they know the benefits and are worth it. The idea to get involved in free email lists is tempting I never considered it before, thanks for opening this discussion.

Safelists and traffic exchanges just like any other marketing tool have a right and wrong way for their use. It's very true that you're in competition against thousands of other marketers who are trying to "tout their wares". And they're all looking for three basic things.

1. To promote their business.
2. To build their list.
3. To make money or make a sale.

You need to learn to think like a consumer. What can you provide to all these marketers
who are looking to promote their products, make sales and build their lists? Give them all
a way to do all that.

This goes for both safelists and traffic exchanges. Except in a traffic exchange you want
to make the pages small or us a splash page building software or the splash pages that
are provided by the programs you're promoting.

The main thing you want is referrals from the various traffic exchanges and safelists that
you use. This can build your income very quickly as well as provide them with what they
want. Sometimes a free program as just as good as a paid and sometimes a small list or
exchange gives a higher response rate the a bigger one.

But whatever you do, try to get them to email you Leave a hyperlink
to your email like this that will give them a nice subject in their email so they don't have
to fill that in.

Like so. mailto://heartuvgold@gmail.com?subject=friendship
then whatever words you use in the subject line after the ?subject= can be filtered
to a specified folder so that you can readily see where they're coming from.
Just use the rule "iF SUBJECT = FRIENDSHIP MOVE TO FOLDER {CONTACTS}" You can do this by clicking on tools/ message rules in outlook, or options/filters in most other mail programs.

So to summarize, whether you use a safelist or a traffic exchange, give them what they want and not just what you think they need. In a safelist, give them a way to contact you directly and filter their emails to a specific folder. And in a traffic exchange, use the splash pages and market to their want for ways to promote, build a list, or make sales.

Over the past 8 years in this Industry, I have used just about every imaginable source of advertising there is, including safelists and traffic exchanges. If a person takes the time to "Learn" how to use them correctly, they "Can" be a good source to create "Leads"... not sign-ups to your chosen business or program, but ONLY if people take the time to "Learn" how.

Most people advertising all over the Internet are expecting people to sign-up directly to their program by advertising their company affiliate page, without any way for the lead or prospect to contact them or get to know them and ask questions, which is one of the worst ways to build a solid, long term business and one of the hardest things to learn.

One thing many people seem to forget though is the fact that using all those forms of advertising take a great deal of time just to get a few leads to talk to about the program or business you're promoting.

People MUST place a value on their "Time" or they are just asking for a ton of frustration, failure and wasted money, which is what happens when people waste or throw away time.

I found that if people "Learn" the basics of "Communication" itself and use their time wisely to effectively communicate with others through social networks and forums, it is time WELL spent because you not only find "Friends" to expand your contact list, but you also find and build "Relationships", which is the bedrock to success with ANY endeavor... in business and in life.

When people learn and master the basics of communication and have the genuine "Intent" to help and support "Others", rather than focusing on earning money overnight, like most people do, they find that the helping of others through effective communication is what DOES work to build an effective team and income.

If you focus on building "People", instead of focusing on making money, you'll find a LOT more personal satisfaction in what you're doing, as well as building a solid team of associates and friends who truly enjoy working with you, which is really what this Industry is all about.

It's about helping and serving "People"... NOT about the money. When people learn and accept that fact and do what's necessary to educate themselves... so they, in turn, can effectively educate others, they discover the "True" meaning of what this Industry was created to do and build "Massive" teams in EVERY business they choose to represent.

If you care to spend a "Great" deal of time learning to use safelists and traffic exchanges... yes, they can work, but it can be done MUCH more quickly and efficiently if you focus MORE on learning effective communication and "People" building instead.

A little trick for using Traffic Exchanges effective to get more exposure to your website or affiliate link is, to ad one and the same URL multiple times to the Traffic Exchange rotation and not only once. That makes sure to receive more viewers to what you have to offer. Another method is to use multi tap browser like for example google chrom, which is fast and great to surf multiple traffic exchanges at once, what will safe you time.

To many members are there just to earn credits to get their site seen. Same with viral lists or any other downline builder. Most of the time, the members are promoting their program, and not interested in others.
