I have a $1,000,000 Question for you.

Can Social Networks Attract more Leads to your Business and how?

If you are trying to figure out if Social Networking /Online Marketing are going to improve your funnel of new business or not, here’s your $0.99 answer --- YES. That’s the good news.

The bad news is in the How. Without getting all techi I’m going to explain it so that a 6 year old can understand and benefit from it. I explain this on a YouTube Video but for those avid readers I can break it down here as well.

Who Do You Think You are?

I know this may appear to be a dumb question but it is absolutely, the one question that you have 9 -15 seconds to answer or you’re done! Here’s why. We are all busy professionals so the attention span for most of us is about 6-9 seconds just to see if we want to listen for the next 30 seconds. So you need to identify yourself and your expertise in milliseconds. That being said, you better identify yourself and your qualifications instantaneously. Think about it: Your toilet is overflowing with raw sewage and you need a plumber NOW. Are you going to waste your time on a guy who is a florist? NOPE! (Now the reality is that he may have over 25 years as a master plumber but you don’t have the luxury of time to explore his resume.) The point is people seek out expert advice not novice advice when available.

Everybody is a Star.
Aston Kutcher recently out produced more subscribers on Twitter than any of the media BIG Dogs i.e. CNN, Walmart, Obama. On the surface this may be no big deal. After all he’s a celebrity right? True, he is a celebrity ……………. But aren’t we all. Social Marketing is all about connections & relevancy. You have to build a following of people interested in your subject matter. As they follow you they also share this info with others. Now in the good old days (7 years ago) this was referred to as Word of Mouth Advertising or Referral Marketing. Anyone can out perform Aston because anyone with a video camera can be a star. Don’t believe me go to YouTube.

Tsung Tsu and the Art of War
I know you are wondering what the heck does a 2000 year old philosopher have to do with Social Marketing? Everything. Chapter 2 - Waging War explains how to understand the economy of war and how success requires making the winning play, which in turn, requires limiting the cost of competition and conflict. You Social marketing Strategy is a Campaign of War. You are competing for the hearts and minds of those needing to hear “The Words” of their Leader. Social Networks are how you disseminate information to your troops and would be followers. It is also how you acquire like minded people who in turn become your agents of influence to their followers, associates, contacts or what have you. IRONICALLY, this is incredibly simple to do and can be as simple as posting an email, video, website or Blog such as this one here. The problem is the enormity and vastness of the Internet. The best strategy is to ask those loyal to you to also send the information to their followers and so on, and so on. By doing this you get exponential exposure and growth in your list.

GoldMail - Drive Revenue

Social Networks and Web 2.0 are your weapons of war.
The purpose of waging war is to win. Winning can come in many forms but in this case the goal is domination so that the Internet sends new users, followers, buyers to you. There are many weapons to use, some better than others. The attraction properties of Social Networks are a key factor in Attraction Marketing but the content must have value and relevance to the reader/consumer in order for it to propagate throughout the Internet. Once you have created great content your next task is to Nuke the net so that those people seeking the content can find you. Only then, with a flood of followers, can you generate more leads from people interested in learning more about YOU, your product, and how it will benefit them in there daily lives. Web 2.0 technologies make the process of connecting and propagating easier than ever by putting content in multiply places more efficiently. By doing this your rankings are optimized and placed higher on search engines like Google, Yahoo and others.

There are many tools one can use I personally use GoldMail, IDL3.0, MLSP and MTF2.0, FREE TRAFFIC PLAN respectively. Both of these will teach anyone the “how to” but you have to be willing to put content together. You also want to use some automated processes that take care of the heavy lifting so that you spend your time talking to people who have self identified them self as BUYERS. So if you ever wondered what is so important about Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Ning and others, "here's your Sign." By leveraging these networks your message will be placed in front of more relevant people who are seeking your solution than ever before. The beautiful part is it only cost you a few minutes a day. Somewhere out there someone is seeking the very thing you are trying to sell, Social Networks help them find YOU.

Business is based on SYSTEMS.

All business is based on systems. Having the right system can make all processes profitable and efficient. Integrating all the various Social Networks together can become tedious and redundant.

Social network will lead to future business network sooner or later -- it is a natural flow to that direction. or the common sharing of future professional views or joint analysis.

I agree that you need to get people to know who you are and what you are doing in a few moments, after all, first impressions are usually the ones that stick. The real task is getting from the leads to the conversion of them. If you can't convert the lead, then nothing will happen that will profit either party.
Social networking can and does play a role in getting the leads, but the real challenge is in the person who is collecting those leads to convert them to sales.
Good post.

There are several really great studies showing out now showing how ineffective social media tools are for building ones business. You can find studies by industry, and with the exception of internet/techie universe, social media still fars well behind in-person interactions.

Here's the real problem though. Social media has been so heavly promoted as the avenue by which to build business, that many have jumped on board with little understanding of how to make it work. One's business card can be an effective tool, placed in the right hands. However, as long as you leave that business card in your pocket, or on a table for someone to pick up by way of their own volition, it loses its power. The same can be said for a website or a social network. If one doesn't actively engage their customers or potential customer through one or both, they are as useless as the scrap of paper sitting on the table.

Here's the real deal. If you want social media to work for your business, use it. I mean USE it! Talk to people, find out what they do, where they are located and what challenges they are facing. Don't just follow them on Twitter, or make friends on Facebook and then expect something to happen. It doesn't happen. The art of the sell is still fully reliant on personal interactions.

Done discreetly works best. Outward advertising on facebook and simple listing what you do on other sites and listing "I could use your business" at times

social networks can attract more leads like any other form but all comes down to 1 thing how you advertise with wording

Thank you Leonard. I think social networking is like personal networking though - listen and make connections. Sharing and being interested in others helps others be interested in you. This takes systems, planning and on-going training.

I have had no new members for my business through social networking. They come from
an automated system called The Movie System. However, I enjoy reading each post on this site.

Learning is the key here. And a willingness to learn and to be helped by social networks. I think many of us think we suffer from a "technucal void"; a gap between what needs to be done in terms of internet marketing and what we actually can do technically. There are also too many webmasters who talk us into paying for fancy websites, sales letters, autoresponders, etc.. Eventually we are so convinced of the complexity of the task at hand that we give up the effort.
Meanwhile there are many social networks and friendly sites, like this one, who are happy to help us on our way. Be strong and patient.

Ah, yes; converting the lead to a sale, that's the hard part. A lead is worth nothing until they see the value in what you offer. 30 seconds? I think I lose people after 3 seconds. If people don't realize they have a debt problem my debt solution won't help them.

I'm becoming more and more aware of how important social networking is.
