Clue #1 of Success leaves Clues

We’ve all heard that success leaves clues, but what are these clues. I would like to start a series about these clues. What qualifies me to write this blog? Have I had success? Yes I have! I guess you could say there are many definitions of success. The Dictionary defines success as: the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors.

Not all of my attempts and endeavors have been both prosperous and favorable. But my most recent ones and the overall majority of them have been very prosperous and favorable.

So what trail of crumbs did I follow to find success? I saw the clues. You have seen them too. You must observe the clues and act upon what you have observed.

The first clue I want to discuss is this:
“Successful people associate with other successful people.”

This is sort of a “which came first the chicken or the egg” thing. Well I can tell you that the more successful you are the more other successful people are attracted to you and what you have to say. But, in the beginning, when you have not had success, you must search out and find people who are where you want to be in life.

Successful people, for the most part, are willing to share with you what has made them successful. If they are not, then move on. Find a person that is willing to mentor you. Statistics show that your income will be the average of the 5 people you associate with the most. So if you want your income to go up you need to surround yourself with folks of higher income.

Don’t get me wrong. This does not mean that you dump your low income friends. You want to help them raise their expectations as well. (That is another clue we will discuss later). Let me cast a vision. Remember high school? The jocks hung out with the jocks, the nerds hung out with the nerds, the band hung out with the band and the thugs hung out with the thugs. Get the picture. There was not much co-mingling. So what have we learned from this?

If you want to have fun, hang out with fun people. If you want to be negative hang out with negative people. If you want constant drama those folks are out there as well. Negativity abounds. You must choose the positive and search out the high road. Find ONE person that is successful and willing to share with you and cling to them like white on rice.
