Development planning is always difficult at this time of as peoples minds turn to holiday and gift buying so now is the time to create an alternative work pattern, become flexible and generate interests in new market areas. Use the time to settle on reading and absorbing information applying to what you want to achieve in the next year.

So a receipe for December the month of giving.

1 Take three weeks and set a simple number of work hours, in this case 45 per week
2 Add new contacts
3 use 10 hours a week to network (party if you want another word) with local business groups
4 Read all those things you missed - and complete outstanding projects
5 Decide what needs to be inplace on the day you go back into the office, (Leave it in the state you want to come back to)
6 Put nothing off until next month, deal priorities - but like a good receipe you need to make certain everything is kept at the right temperature

Once all these things are in the mix let people know what your schedule is going to be, offer a relaxed but purposeful environment if you are attending business meetings make them short and focused, single purpose where you can.

Remember your mind may not be as focused on the job as you would normally be so make certain all your time management techniques and tools are inplace to maximise productivity

Business is fun, December is a chance to make great strides for the new year, so enjoy yourself.

Warning "nothing looses customers faster than inappropriate behaviour in a social setting or a lack of restraint" so sewt limits, keep to them and never break the rules, drunks aren't good business partners even if it is only a few days a year.

Thanks for reading
